B&t apc308

Bereli has these APC308 rifles for $2,500, so I decided to purchase one. It’s not the Pro version, but the price seems pretty good compared to what they’ve been historically. It includes a buttstock and an Elftmann US made trigger, so I don’t have to bother with 922(r). The barrel is 14.3" with a pinned and welded flash hider. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but here’s a picture after I added backup sights. It came inside a B&T backpack. I’m not really familiar with it other than what I’ve written here, so any insight is appreciated.

I look forward to seeing how this one does.

I’ve got a APC9 Pro just like it in NFA jail. From everything I’ve read the trigger and stock (which has LOP and adj Cheek Riser) make this a great gun. Also read/heard the Reptilla grip is better suited than stock, although can’t comment as I’m still waiting for mine.

Have the 18" pro, have been getting 1-1.5 MOA groups with out a lot of effort ( Federal 168 and 175) comfortable with it out to 400Y. It’s ran a bunch of M80 ball surplus that I had on hand for my FAL with out issues but less than ray gun accuracy. It took ~1-200 or so rounds to break it in, but since then it’s ran fine - had to keep pressure off the mags otherwise it’d FTF. Problem went away with Pmag 20 &25’s after breaking in. Follow the lube directions to the dot. Due to design / stock it’s a front heavy gun, have shot a few outlaw 2/3 gun matches with it & had fun.

Thanks for the tip on lubing it. I’ll be sure to read the instructions.

I read the instructions and they were not very detailed. they basically said to put a light coat of oil on all the metal parts. Perhaps the instructions with the Pro version are more detailed.

I fired my APC308 for the first time today. I started off with 20rds of IMI 7.62x51 150gr FMJ through a metal D&H magazine. The last two cartridges failed to feed. It was immediately obvious that this was due to the magazine follower allowing the base of the cartridges to go down too low. I’ve never had an issue with a D&H magazine before, but it was quite clearly a magazine issue, so I decided to switch over to using a Magpul 20rd magazine. Next, I fired 20rds of igman 308Win 147gr FMJ. It cycled 100% and was noticeably hotter than the IMI ammunition. Next, I fired 20rds of Federal 7.62x51 XM180C 149gr FMJ. It also cycled 100%. I finished up with another 20rds of the igman 308Win. which once again cycled 100%. The ejection with all ammunition was nice and positive, but the ammunition only went a few feet to about 4:00 in general. I’d call this ideal ejection. The spent cases will be reloadable. It was hot today and I was out in the sun, so I was shooting another rifle in between shooting magazines throught this rifle. One thing that I definitely didn’t like was how hot the metal handguard got. Even though I was giving it a decent amount of time to cool and keeping it out of the sun, it was almost too hot to hold. I definitely need some sort of alternative arrangement here, so I’m open to suggestions, I’m not a fan of forward grips though. Another thing that I noticed that I found a bit odd was that the rear portion of the buttstock was pretty flexible when it was hot. It seems too flexible. Overall, I’m pleased. I just need to get an optic. I’ll probably go with an ACOG.

Thats all thin handguards on a hot day IMO. Had the same issue with my B&T 223 this weekend up in MN 89-93 degrees and sunny - it just couldn’t cool off. Buddies AR15 had the same issues, magpul mlok rubber rail covers helped a tiny bit, wound up putting on a pair of leather gloves later in the day.

This was extra special hot. They Beryl (5.56x45 AK) that I was shooting didn’t get near as hot. It has a plastic handguard though. I think the larger cartridge and direct contact with the metal handguard just made it near impossible to hold.

Yesterday, I took my APC308 again. This time the temperature was about 75F and the sky was cloudy. I started by firing 20rds of '85 dated Radway Green 147gr FMJ using a Hexmag. Function was 100%. After shooting a couple of pistols, I then fired 20rds of '03 dated GGG 150gr FMJ through a PMag. It also functioned 100%. Finally, after shooting my pistols again, I fired 20rds more of the '03 dated GGG 150gr FMJ through a Hexmag. Once again, it functioned 100%. Accuracy seemed to be good with the Magpul sights, but the front sight was pretty blurry. I placed an order for a 3.5X ACOG. The lower temperatures and cloud cover must have helped because the handguard didn’t get noticeably hot.

How’s the recoil on this gun?

It’s not light like 5.56x45, but it’s not bad at all. It’s really nice with the 3.5X ACOG on it. The short barrel keeps the weight to the rear.
