Just wanted to tell ya’ll if anybody out there is interested in trying this. It will NOT work on the Smith. I shaved the forward area of the trigger guard and the lever itself to where there is no contact between the two. I then test fired it and worked great until I tried my first speed reload with it…The mag release bar on the left side of the lower literally hits the b.a.d. lever and upon pressing the magazine release sends the bolt home. I was not happy. This is my ‘cheap’ training ar and I was hoping to set it up exactly like my 5.56 Ar but due to the width of the Smith’s lower I cannot. Just thought I would share this with you guys if one of you was considering doing the same. I ended up cutting the lever off and mounting the bolt release section of it on the Smith to have a larger surface area when I hit the ‘ping pong’ paddle. Yeh, I know it was a waste of a perfectly good b.a.d. lever but I thought I’d salvage something. Hope this helps somebody.
Don’t feel bad. They don’t work on all but one of my AR’s, and even then it wore itself loose in under 500rds.
Numerous Colt bolt catches from different years and multiple BAD’s are loose on all of them to where they wobble around like crazy. Not even close to being tight on the bolt catch.
I guess they were tested on SW MP15’s and not actual mil-spec parts such as Colt or FN…:rolleyes:
It has worked Perfect on my Vltor upper (fail zero bcg), dpms lower after I used some more loc-tite on it. As opposed to just using what magpul sends with the lever. Really love the device. Travis and magpul really have something here. Just wish my vltor rifle and the 15-22 could be consistent in both their manual of arms.
