AXC Geist 4.2 oz buffer????

So I’ve been a little more than obsessed with buffer/spring combos in my rifles lately and found an $11 buffer on Ebay that was advertised as being 3.5oz - I thought, cool… It’s little lighter than H-buffer… I thought I’d try it out. I knew the quality would probably suffer being from an unknown manufacturer, but it would be used for experimental purposes (and besides, it’s a buffer).

So when I get this thing in the mail today, I put it on the scale - 4.2 oz! So instead of being a light H buffer, it’s exactly inbetween an H buffer and an H2 buffer - an H1.5 buffer. I haven’t run it in a rifle yet so I don’t know what the results would be, but it will be fun to play with regardless.

The whole thing looks gold plated and is very tacky, but I feel recriprocating weights and it feels solid enough.

4.2 oz!!! :

That could actually be a good thing if you really wanted to tweak your carbine and buffer. Give it a try, worst that happens is that it’s a little too heavy.

That’s what I was thinking… I’ve accumulated an assorted collection of carbine, H, H2, and H3 buffers; Sprinco white, blue, and red; and Wolff RP, SP, and XP springs. It’s nice to add this intermediate buffer for testing purposes. My next trip out to the woods will involve lots swapping out different configurations and seeing what will fire what, how reliably, and if there’s any noticeable difference in recoil. I’m thinking this buffer with a Wolff SP spring in a carbine with a FA BC might make a good all-arounder…

So pop it open and tell us what’s inside already! :stuck_out_tongue:

ETA: I have a 4.1oz. ST-T2, FA BCG and standard carbine spring in my 16" middie and it is smoooooth.
