Awesome Magpul Article

Read the article.

Complete with classis Drake quotes:

“We put Boulder, Colorado, on everything that we make, and really that’s just a slap in the face to the hippies,” said Drake Clark, senior director of sales and business development for Magpul.

“We’re fairly proud that we can be amidst a whole bunch of hippies and we can build gun parts that say Boulder on them,” Clark said.

Those comments are freakin hilarious

Drake is part of the military industrial complex Eisenhower warned about before he left office. Drake should be slapped in the face.

Only a hippy would respond to a perceived threat to national security and freedom with a slap in the face…

OWM in the comments section couldn’t have said it better, and I quote…
"Mr. Clark forgot that the definition of hippie has changed locally. It used to refer to a good-natured, free-wheeling vagabond type of person who would laugh off the joke. The Boulder hippie of today is a pretentious whining know-it-all eco-nazi trust-funder type that gets their panties in a bundle over anything that’s 110% PC or uber-liberal in nature.

The douch bag hippies of Boulder forget the fact that other people actually give their lives so Boulderites can act so high and mighty and pretend that they own their neighbors property."
I live above Boulder, and it gets pretty fucking annoying dealing with the bunch of douch bags. I’ve been mislabeled as a hippie when working in Boulder because I have long hair; until I give the accuser a wake up call and ear full. I’ve also noticed Boulderites like to argue and talk shit until it’s time to pay the pipper.

I also love the fair weathered war protestors in thier black dress that hang out on the corner of Broadway & Canyon; only when it’s nice out though. Rant off.

Drive on with a hard on Magpul!

Excellent article. Gotta love Magpul for sticking it to the hippies!:stuck_out_tongue:

Bravo!

wonder how many direct jobs and indirect jobs Magpul created for Boulder

edit: says 100 direct employees

In the words of Monty Burns: “Hi-larious!”

I’m not surprised at all by some of the venom in the comments. I lived in Austin, Texas - the southern annex of Boulder.

There are several other great quotes and bits of information about Magpul and the article touches on how they design their Theory Based Products for real-world warfighters and operators. It’s also great to hear how they roll a significant portion revenues back into R&D for new products.

It’s not all about the hippies :).

Magpul is one cool company.

And like Johnny Lydon says: Never trust a Hippie

Great article. For being a bunch of hippies who are into peace, loving one another and understanding, they sure are hostile towards someone with a different view point.

Reminds me of this shirt from Crye Precision…http://www.cryeprecision.com/P-APRTGK00LG0/Guns-Kill-Hippies™

Is there a side story to this? I understand the feeling on hippies, but it seems weird for Drake to make a comment like that unprovoked. It’s funny that hippies will NEVER understand that it’s the fighting man/warrior that protect their very right to be hippies.

'Nuff said.

The idiot calling himself Heinlein need his nads kicked for being a disgrace to the name.

LOL - that was my first thought as well.

“Jebus, if they don’t like a few jokes from Drake, then Caleb’s T-shirt will REALLY piss them off!”

They’d better look at the odds. 100 Magpul employees vs hordes of hippies. The hippies are going to need reinforcements.

And that’s before Travis calls in the air support.

He stated on ARFCOM that he was misquoted. Funny nonetheless.

Jay

I’ve lived here my whole life. I used to walk the top of Davidson mesa hunting rabbits with a 20 gauge shotgun. We hunted doves where Spanish Hills now stands, and we would camp along South Boulder creek where the Bobolink trail now is, hunting squirrels in the cottonwood trees. The land up west of Nederland was where we camped, hunted and went target shooting countless times. I had hair (I miss it now) down past my shoulders, had the Zig-Zag man embroidered on my jean jacket, and we used those papers for rolling “Lumbo” which one could get a four finger bag of for $30. I own 17 firearms, 6 of which are hand guns.

“We put Boulder, Colorado, on everything that we make, and really that’s just a slap in the face to the hippies.”

I respect this guy for fighting for our country. However, unfortunately, I don’t think that he’s exactly the sharpest tool in the shed demographically speaking. Remember, some of us “hippies” like 300 Winchester magnums.

I agree with this guy. The whole anti “hippy” attitude in the firearms community is quite naive to say the least. “Hippies” I know, the guys who smoke pot daily, go out in the woods to be with nature all the time, support environmentalist thinking and strive to care for animals, are some of the most prominent gun owners I know. The term “hippy” needs to be defined here or no longer used.

i thought cartman killed all the hippies in colorado?
