ATK has purchased Blackhawk Products Group for an undisclosed sum. Read More
Interesting.
Would the made in USA Blackhawk! items I have be collectible?
From the article:
Cats and Dogs Living Together…while some might see Eagle and Blackhawk long rivals in the tactical industry, under the same corporate umbrella as a sign of the end times, it is not. Just interesting times.
So this obviously begs the question, will ATK consolidate these concerns or will they follow the lead of Armor Holdings, gobbling up companies and allowing them to continue to compete even under their umbrella?
I suddenly feel the need to stock up on a bunch of Eagle gear to ensure I don’t get a cross-bred BHI/EI product in the future.
Well this will either be an upgrade for Blackhawk or a downgrade for Eagle:confused:
I have a close friend that has worked for ATK/Federal for the last 7 years. They are in the process of buying up a bunch of companies.
I guess this means when one company rips off the other now, it’ll be kosher. Like Chevy/GM badge engineering.
Indeed. The problem is, finding it in stock. I have been hunting for some Ranger Green FB mag pouches for months, nobody has them, and Eagle can’t give me a expected date for making some. ![]()
Same here. I settled on snagging the first set of used FB pouches I came across.
I hear you, I have not even been able to find used ones in that color.
And I’ve been Googling my poor little digit’s off. ![]()
Not anticipating good results for Eagle out of this
I currently work for ATK in addition to being an active LEO. My ATK stint is more of a consult basis, but they do purchase many small companies. But from an insider POV, manufacturing strategies and implementation are their strong suit. I foresee after the product lines are revamped there will be more than adequate supplies based upon demand in stock and readily available.
I don’t think anybody has stated that BHI products will get worse - they’ll get better.
I suspect we’ll see a spinoff - something like the Eagle LE line, but at Blackhawk distribution levels, will be a good thing overall I think.
I agree Teh that would more than likely be a plausible route to go in this purchase. It just makes good business sense.
Am I going to have to reregister and what about my info with Blackhawk. Kind of sad cause owning BH gear since at least 2002 maybe before I guess everyone has a price.
I wonder how they figure they’ll sell in bulk to the US Government, considering lots of Blackhawk production is offshore.
Don’t forget that ATK is a huge aerospace defense company as well, with a hand in everything from major weapon systems to space shuttle/space station parts. In fact, one of the biggest players out there. ![]()
Did not know that.
I ordered some new mag pouches direct from Eagle last November. They advised they were back ordered and I let the order go. The stuff arrived in June. I have ordered direct for years and always got a nice LEO discount and quick shipping or I just stopped in when driving by Fenton, MO and had run of the shipping department to pick up necessary items and pay up with the shipping manager on my way out. I was on the mailing list since 1990 but now I am gone from the list no LEO discount no welcome at the office door and a Q&A session regarding products in development just a curt this is not a retail facility. They are probably leaner and more competitive company but they aren’t the folks who stopped to fix your gear when you stopped by with it torn up and offered you a cup of coffee from the office pot while it was stitched up.
I agree unfortunately This is often the result when a company grows too big.
Which always opens up the channels for competition.
How many AR companies would there be today if Colt had done everything right?
