At what price is a 6920 a "No Brainer"?

Alright,
A 6920 was always something I thought would be nice to have. It was never really on the “front burner” for me as I have a LMT M4 upper and I’ve been thinking about a Denny’s Operator, Ko-Tonics 6.8, CMMG 14.7" middy, etc. However, I’ve found some NIB though for $1199. Is that one of those “jump on it” kind of prices? What would you consider a “GET IT!” price for a 6920

PLEASE leave out the “Kool Aid”, “Colt sucks”, “F**k Colt”, etc comments out.

Thanks

Edited by Va_Dinger - No big deal, but the “F” word had to go.

I don’t think you will end up finding them much cheaper than that. Whether its a no brainer or not depends on too many additional things. While that price is decent, I don’t consider it a steal by any stretch.

That is a good price.

I think that $1200 is a fair price, and I would jump on one at $1k. But that’s because I’m overflowing with ARs I’d wait it out.

If I was in the actively, $1200 would be the price where I slapped my money down on the barrelhead and walked away with my new rifle.

Within the last week I have seen the 6920 for $1,199 and $1,229, I would say either one to be a get it price. Recently they were going as high as $1,500. The decline in pricing is telling me that Colt has made progress on the backlog.

I would say a bargain would be $1,100, if they ever go that cheap.

I would JUMP for anything below $1200 if your truly looking for a 6920.

Heads up: The scumbags at Florida Gun works have them “On Sale” for $2,499.95.

You will not see those types of comments on M4C.

Very true.

My local gunstory called me yesterday to tell me they had some in stock for $1449.00…I told them they were about $250.00 high… I can find them from a private local seller for $1200.00 without tax… that price is kind of marginal IMO…

1199.00 is good

Quick, get it!

In my local area 6920 are selling for $1,500.

WTS COLT LE6920 $1125 SHIPPED

A guy on Sturmgewehr says he only put 14 rounds through this one. Just to give an idea.

Anything under $1k is a no-brainer. $1k-1200 is a good price.

Orders are catching up and the buying frenzy seems to be slowing.

There also seems to be an unusually high number of new guns with swapped components. One unscupulous dealer had several NIB LE6920s, all with lesser internals. Clearly, the vultures aren’t done feeding yet. As always, buy from vetted sources.

A slow & painful death would be too damn good for this scumbag.

What was the dealer’s name?

I know Florida Gunworks did something similar to a co-worker when I lived in Florida. He purchased a pre-ban Colt M4 from them via the Internet - this was during the ban. It was suppose to be a Colt Match Target pre-ban lower & Colt M4 upper. The lower was advertised as “Like New” and the upper was supposed to be new. Being a preban Colt complete rifle during the ban he paid a premium for it.

What arrived was something very different. The lower looked decent at first to our relatively un-trained eyes. The upper was some mutt they had purchased or slapped together with a Colt upper receiver and mix & match of cheap crap. I have no idea who made the barrel, FSB, or BCG but it sure as hell wasn’t Colt. None of them had any markings, forge marks, proofs, etc.

Plus the entire gun had a bad refinish job. The lower was not even disassembled before the re-finish. It was just sprayed straight down into the lower with the trigger group, etc in place.

Now to the really ugly part of the story.

My co-worker decides to take it out for some fun. The gun would not run and the trigger would hang up, fail to reset, and lock back after each shot, etc. After some head scratching he calls Florida Gunworks but got no place. They would either not return his calls or just place him on hold for 20-30 minutes at a time. After about a week he decided to send the rifle off to SAW to let them figure it out and repair it.

After about three weeks Ken Elmore from SAW calls. The lower parts kit was a cheap POS, Ken actually called it “Chinese”. The Upper was beyond description. SAW said the only part truly Colt was the receiver, everything else was as cheap an AR part as can be found in the world.

It turned out the only two Colt parts on the entire rifle were the receivers. Ken Elmore from SAW even considered the POS lower parts kit to be dangerous to shoot, and improperly installed.

It cost my friend a decent amount to have the lower rebuilt with a Colt lower parts kit. He ended up selling the upper off as parts (at a huge loss) and bought an upper from SAW. Florida Gun Works did nothing to help him. Personally I would have been “A Little” more forceful with them, but he just let it go after 20-30 phone calls with no result.

Live & learn.

Wow. Who are the other crappy dealers to stay away from?
