Freaking awesome idea staff/mods…one of the reasons why I prefer M4C is because of the SMEs and the Mods.
I would like to see more than just 3, however I understand if not all SMEs want to participate in this manner.
At any rate great job and props to whomever deserves the credit for this outside of the SMEs themselves who obviously deserve the most praise for making themselves available:)
This is very cool. Big thank you to all three very well respected SMEs for participating in this.
ETA: My only suggestion would ge a general/header type forum at the top of this new subforum, where questions could be posed to all SMEs at once. If someone posts a generally question to one man, I’m almost positive that they would not mind the other two giving input as well.
Kudos to this excellent idea. This sounds like it will be one of the most informative areas of the one of the most informative firearm sites on the web.
Looking fwd to reading the discussions and thanks to the SME’s for taking the time to share their expertise. I think it says a great deal about this site, that they are here and making themselves available in this venue.
Can members please be mindful that the purpose of these specific sub-forums (I assume) is for us to get the insight and opinions of the SMEs, not to have one SME response and then 50 back-and-forth responses from other members stating their own opinions? The SMEs here are already kind enough to respond in many regular threads and it seems that this is their platform to respond to direct questions, not a place for everyone to add their $.02.
Sorry if I’m out of line, but things already seem to be going this way.
Also, if I’m wrong about the intent of these new forums I apologize.
Spot on. What we’d encourage is that if someone feels very, very strongly about a topic from “Ask the SME”, start their own thread with a reference back, and open the discussion with the rest of the community.
I agree about the thread clutter after the question is answered. I’d think that common courtesy would keep everyone but the original poster and the sme out of the thread.
I’m wondering if we still have to submit our question through a moderator? Seems like some do and some don’t.
