The wife brings home a half eaten bag of caramel popcorn on occasion and I finish it off when I decide to ignore my diet. She’ll also leave similar items on the island in the kitchen and I’ll finish them off while she is at work. The other day she was gone and I found a large zip lock bag full of something that looked like cheese balls. I checked them out and thought these smell really good, I should have a few. I decided I should not ignore my diet and did not eat any of them.
A couple of hours later a friend, Big Mike, came by the house so I could replace the barrel on his M1 Carbine. Mike gave me his carbine and immediately extracted a beer from the garage refrigerator. He asked if I had any snacks and I told him the wife left something on the island in the kitchen. He returned to the garage with the big zip lock in his hand. He wolfed down the cheese balls and said “damn, these are good!” He nearly ate the entire bag.
I finished his carbine, test fired it and away he went.
Later in the day the wife arrived home and found the cheese balls were almost gone. She came into the garage with the nearly empty bag in her hand and said “I can’t believe you fed the puppy all of these treats, I hope she doesn’t get sick!” She was not happy with me and stormed back into the house.
The morale of the story is before you eat anything at our house, ask first.
When we were kids my older sister made me eat dog treats a lot. From what I remember they weren’t all that bad. Not saying I’d eat them again given the chance though.
My wife leaves food out like that and then gets pissed if I eat it. Like I’m somehow supposed to psychic-ly know that she was saving that particular bit of food for something. C’mon. How about a note or simple sentence? If there is food in my house, I think its fair game unless told otherwise… How am I supposed to know she wanted to make cookies with all that delicious chocolate chip cookie dough. In my way of thinking, I saved her a whole step in the cookie process. She should thank me!
Luckily for me, I’m the one who does the dog’s treats.
How is Big Mike felling? I wanna know how the story continues after you gave him the good news.
