ASAP and tightening castle nut

I have installed several Magpul ASAP plates and have always had trouble tightening the castle nut as the wrenches dont seem to work. Is anyone having any luck with a differant technique?

What problem are you having in particular?

I installed one on my LMT lower using a generic Castle Nut tool and had no problems.

The rail on the ASAP always seems to be in the way of me getting all three of the teeth on the castle nut. I can get two teeth on it but never a third so the wrench slops off.

Aah, I see where you’re coming from.

I tightened mine using 2 of the 3 “teeth” until I could get all 3 teeth to engage to get me a good tighten.

My tool is just a TAPCO tool.

I have this same Tapco tool, and I took the ctting wheel to it until it cleared the loop. Worked great for the two I have installed.

I don’t remember this issue at all.

I found that my wrench is pretty thick. I found an old one that was flatter and ground it done. Works great. Thanks for the help guys.:dance3:

I put one on a friends carbine and the only issue I was trying to figure out was how to stake it.
