I was looking at getting an Arsenal SLR 107f or the 107-24 with triangle folding stock. But I heard a lot of complaints about canted sights terrible finishes and horrible customer service from arsenal the last few years. Is this still the case with the current production of rifles? I was planning on buying from atlantic. Thanks
I haven’t heard any serious complaints in a while. I’d buy with confidence.
The SGL-31 I recently got from KVAR was perfect.

Are you sure you don’t have Arsenal mixed up with Century?
If my memory serves me correctly.
IIRC, 1-2 years ago? 106FRs, 107FRs and other Bulgarian Arsenal rifles started coming in with Canted front sights, gas tubes, and it seemed they were rougher then normal on the whole. Kind of unacceptable in a rifle which costs 3x what a WASR does (or did then). It seems the quality issues have been resolved with the Bulgarian rifles. On the UR series of rifles there would often be feeding issues as well. The other big deal was Arsenal seemed indifferent to the whole thing.
I believe the SGLs are mostly assembled in Russia, not Bulgaria so these quality concerns would not apply.
Edit: And there was a period with the 106 series where they did not have a feed ramp cut into the chamber causing feeding issues (IIRC 3-4 years ago? Maybe longer.)
Arsenal is good to go, they build an excellent rifle. You’ll be extremely pleased. I own 2 Arsenal SA M-7’s and they are both beyond excellent. I went through K-Var and had no problems. I’ve never had to deal with Arsenal’s or K-Var’s customer service so I can’t comment on that. However, the fact that I’ve never had to deal with either after the sale might tell you something. I know not what you speak of… I have several Arsenal AK’s and they are all excellent rifles that run reliably. That said I only run 7.62 rifles so I might have missed issues with other calibers.
Arsenal has put out some less than ideal rifles every now and then. Like any company the quality and quality control varies over time. They had some SLR-106s that had a hard time feeding brass cased ammo. They had some rifles with canted front sight bases. They’ve had rifles with painted finishes that wear and/or flake quickly.
But overall they’re still the leading AK makers in the US, IMHO. And it’s been a while since I heard about any systemic problems with any Arsenal rifle. The pessimist in me thinks that means they’re due.
