Hey guys I was looking into buying this rail system and needed a few questions answered before I decide. I have the older model SIR system from arms that bolt up to the top of your receiver. They are not bad, but dint like the fact that they raised your rail height and were a bit on the heavy side. Well the #50m-cv seems to have solved that. I like the fact I can snap off the lower handguard in seconds to access the barrel for cleaning ect… I also like the battle proven reliability of arms products, theres a reason why barret uses it on their rifle. Well my question is:
Is the lower handguard the “slim” version or the regular width used on the other SIR systems? That has been my only turn off with this system, the fact they are a bit on the wide side.
I was looking into the DD omega 7, but I will be putting my rifle through a lot of stuff and will get very dirty, I dont want to have to unscrew the allen bolts on the omega every day just to wipe off the dirt from the outside of the barrel, which will be bad overheating issues if I dont do it.
I have a Troy MRF rail. Mine uses a detent pin to remove the lower rail. I think they may have changed it to a hex screw for removal, but you’ll have to check into that to be sure.
What’s the weight of the ARMS rail? The carbine MRF is just over 4oz I think.
Sorry, but I can’t comment on the ARMS, never used one. They look heavy and over-engineered to me.
