Attention Wal-Mart shoppers. These really work, believe it or not. They are thick plastic pants hangers. They are not the hard plastic stuff that can snap, and they have a give to them but are strong. At 80 cents a piece, by the bundle, they will last forever.
Overseas we made cross stands and put them in the corner of our rooms, so our armor and brain bucket would be in the same place everytime.
Just 2 2x4’s 8’ long should do it. It looked just a a cross, only stood maybe 3-4’ tall and had supports screwed to the bottom to keep everything up right.
If you live near the coastal area of NC, you might want to check out a dive shop. I have my chest rig, armor and belt rigs on hangers meant for SCUBA bounancy compensator vests. I got them for about 8 bucks, and they are designed to hold 40 or more pounds. So you can even leave the mags and/or hydration rig loaded.
yea 10x20 wasn’t bad, originally designed for 3 guys, and we had to keep both bunks and all 3 wall lockers in the room, ate up some space fast. But I don’t like to complain, because I know I had it good living conditions wise.
I bought into the kickstarter as well. Emails went out asking for mailing address and color in case you didn’t get one. Asked for one in tan.
I was fortunate enough to try one of the tough hooks before full production. It’s a pretty slick design. I like how it’s a carry handle and a hanger in one. Used it on a recent Redback One course held in WV. I don’t find it necessary since I’m not in the line of work that utilizes a plate carrier but it is a good “nice to have” with the courses I plan to attend. Had two other students test it out for weight since I was running a slick carrier. I’ll try and get more pictures of the versatility of tough hook but it does its job well for plate carriers/body armor.
