I’m starting to look for an AR10. I haven’t heard much about Armalite AR10’s. I’ve been doing some research but I’m not sure of it. I’m wanting a fair opinion.
Shocked you didn’t get banned for the question. Most on this site don’t like 'em (but love the M&P 10?!?!). I’ve had solid results with two 16" AR10s with Gen II mags. I love the Armalite AR10. Most here seem to not like the fact that they are not compatible with cheap plastic P Mags. Now Armalite offers the AR10A line that takes PMags and such (which I would take every time over an pencil barred 18" (what!?) non chrome lined (melonited) barrel M&P). There’s also an SME or two on this site that seems to be into the Armalites.
Sorry, but that is about as good as it’s gonna get for Armalite on this site. You’ll get some traffic now that I’ve slayed the sacred cow.
Banned for asking a question lol??? Good way to scare a new member for no reason.
And taking credit for making a post to get others to post? LOL Its not been that long since he first posted. This isn’t next minute service on a forum.
IMO nothing wrong with an A patterned 308. IMO even the actual AR10s are fine. Pricey for what they are, and then having to deal w Ary mags, but none the less. IMO I’d by an AR10 over a DPMS anyday. BUT I’d still prefer a DPMS patterned 308 over an AR10 if that makes any sense. Neither are top tier by any means or hardcore precision guns. I think if getting a battle rifle in a 16in barrel to serve as a non precision based gun either or would be fine. Would I take either to war however… no. Thats where the LMT and KAC come in.
Not wanting to start any thing, just trying to gather thoughts on the rifle. Seems that the newer models are made to accept pmags as well as others. I’ve got alot of research left yet. Just getting started . Thanks for the replies.
Sorry, next time I’ll remember to employ emoticons…![]()
There are certain sensitivities on this site that trigger a flurry of responses. When it comes to 7.62 ARs, no one is safe!
Actually, precision is where the more affordable guns can shine. Ability to take abuse and long term durability/reliability is where most find fault.
Ive owned several ArmaLites. I used to own the B series which take modified M-14 mags. The guns shot well and were more accurate than I am. I just switched over to the "A" series that take PMAGs. I also have a LMT MWS. So having just one set of mags just made logistical sense. I used to have a DPMS LR 308 classic. The ArmaLite is far and away the better gun vs DPMS. ArmaLite uses forged vs cast receivers. The barrels are chrome lined. They have a limited lifetime warranty for the original owner. IIRC, they also have a limited 1 MOA accuracy guarantee. For its MSRP, I dont think it has any competitors. At the moment, the"A" series is only available in the carbine and SASS models. The gun is reliable once broken in, and like most ARs , mine liked to run wet. As for military reliability, Armalite AR-10s are the semi auto sniper rifles of the Canadian army. Try as I might though, I cant find positive or negative feedback on their service.
I believe only the SR-25 has been in production longer. And ArmaLite was and is still primarily geared to the civilian market.
