Armageddon Arsenals

The Destination America channel on Comcast Cable has a show called Armageddon Arsenals were owners show what guns they own and then are put through various challenges to see what proficiency they have with said arsenals.

Now these folks are blowing the first rule of survival with the lack of OPSEC showing what they own, giving real names and some tours of their properties. Now with that said some trends were very obvious through out the show.

Some owners of the fancy arsenals could slow shoot on paper or steel but when placed in a actual timed, force on force or run and gun scenarios they had big problems with accuracy and survival.

It also appeared none of the owners had any training with room clearing or safe movement through halls or doorways.

Plus long range proficiency was lacking with most especially with those large bore rifles.

Many owners had big time cash invested in the arsenals but went cheap on supporting gear such a tactical vests and holsters which seems very strange considering the funds already spent. Also no body armor or ballistic helmets were seen during the show.

Personally I would have liked to seen much smaller “Arsenals” with funds diverted to training dedicated to those skills which are most beneficial to ones survival such as some CQC and ranged engagement.

Some folks think because they may have attended a single training class, read a book or watched a Utube video that they are GTG.

But the retention of critical skills is never ending with the need to be constantly reinforced to maintain a proficient skill set so to be able to address any threat on instinct when and were ever it may occur.

Also some decent load bearing vests, soft and hard armor and helmets would go a long way to help one retain a active pulse while defending the homestead.

While in my early days I may have been guilty of owning a few guns which didn’t really improve my survival strategy I have over the years reduced safe queens and fun guns down to near zero and used the funds on up-grading support gear and armor.

Just owning a mass of guns does not guarantee safety or survival and this show helped point out the flaws in the featured Arsenals owners survival perpetrations.

I watched today. Episode had the older guy with an AR50, among other guns. Pretty much had the same observations. More training definitely needed…me included. That guy with the AR50 did have quite the collection:)

All these type shows have nothing but gun owners playing fantasy on there; none of them are armed.
There is a difference between having a gun and being armed.

I have more training diplomas than I do guns… by a 2-1 margin.

Funny, after Sandy Hooks multiple gun related shows were pulled. But Nat Geo’s Doomsday Preppers and now this are in full swing. There is an agle they are playing here. Attempting to portray anyone who owns firearms and or preps for the inevitable as batshit crazy.

OP, thanks for posting this otherwise I would not have know about the show. I will catch the repeat.

I did not see the show as being demeaning or anti gun in any way as it was all about evaluating the skill of owned firearms which most owners featured were lacking in but not to the point of being dangerous.

Good to know, maybe there is hope yet to shine a good light on the firearm community for a change.

Like it or not, it probably represents the majority of gun ownership in the US. All it takes is $$, not brains or talent.

I know a few folks who have totally decked out high end AR’s that have never been fired. They just want to have them for that (Just in case moment) but have no interest in shooting and the guns have not moved out of the safe or closet since purchased many years ago.

Most of the people in this country have little critical thinking skills and only learn what they watch on the TV shows, news, programs and Hollywood movies. Whatever they see is believed to be the truth and don’t think about what they just watched. Watch the Oprah show I did a few years ago.just once and the look in her eyes made me sick and the expressions of her audience made me realize there is little hope for this country.

Just like having children…more lives in America have been destroyed with sex then guns…dumb people create more dumb people…:dirol:

I have often thought that if I was some third world goat lover and saw American TV for the first time on my village’s analog tube I’d hate us too.

As with Rome, bread and circuses.

Couple your statement, with any sort of anti US propaganda…

Agreed.

Definitely good to hear!

Pa. Patriot, i see you have met my older brother, has a Colt H-Bar SP-2 he bought before the 1994 ban, has only ever fired one box of ammo out of it.

He tells me this weapon he has not even fired enough to familiarize himself with it is his SHTF rifle.

I laughed at him and said “Really, have you zeroed it in?” answer “well no”, “Are you sure it’s reliable?” answer “Well no!”

Then he asked me about my 3 AR’s i told him “Both my 20 inch Ar;s have fired thousands of rounds each, my M4gery has only fired a few hundred but it is also only a few months old.”

He decided he had better get up to speed.
