On another forum someone mentioned their notarized Schedule A on their trust. I’ve never been told to have mine notarized when adding to it. Is anyone having theirs notarized when they add to them?
Not that I’m aware of. It couldn’t hurt anything but I don’t think it necessary.
Notarizing would protect the contents for the beneficiary should someone try to contest the distribution upon death though.

In Colorado, according to my attorney, yes. Beyond that I can’t say.
If you had your Schedule A notarized every time you added something to it, it would be covered with notary stamps and seals, and you would have nowhere to list your items.
My understanding, for what it is worth, is that the Schedule A doesn’t need to be notarized, as the purpose of it is to add and remove items from the trust when you assign property to it, or remove property to liquidate it.
The Schedule A is part of the trust, the entire trust is notarized. There is no need to get the Schedule A notarized separately. This is just more uninformed internet nonsense.

I think the original Notary is simply to confirm that you are actually the person setting up the Trust ( not under duress or a fake ).
But if you had two siblings that didn’t get along and left everything to one of them… and/or the beneficiary was less than honest upon your death… The Schedule A -could- be falsified after your death… but not if you added a Notary or witness.
It’s not required but could be useful and probably why someone said they had theirs Notarized.
