Are Voodoo Tactical soft cases worth getting?

I’m looking for a soft rifle case, preferably something that could hold 2 rifles. Noticed that Voodoo Tactical has a good assortment of cases, including a 2-rifle soft case that will hold larger battle rifles (up to 45") if needed. A quick search revealed that Voodoo has been mentioned positively by a handful of guys here in threads on M4c.

Can anyone report on your experience with Voodoo Tactical soft cases? [Edited to add]: Actually, ANY experiences with Voodoo products that would give an idea of their quality and service would be good to hear about.

I have had one for about 6 months and love it. Of course, it only goes back and forth to the range in the back of my truck. There is a lot of room for extras in them. I only paid $45 shipped from Sportsman Guide. There was a discount code and free shipping at the time, so I figured I would take a chance. Glad I did.

I too am looking for a good double rifle case but am afraid to buy any of the ones Ive seen. Im all for quality. I have an Uncle Mikes tactical rifle case and Ive been squeezing the AR and AK into it. Only problem is that its made for 1 rifle.

All im finding are those $75 dollar airsoft cases. Then i see Voodoo tactical and condor brands that look exactly the same. Now I am wondering if China makes these cheap quality cases and voodoo/condor etc… re brands them. You NEED a QUALITY case if you carry REAL firearms simply because of weight. Who wants crap nylon and zippers?

Cheap airsoft case…

Voodoo tactical

^^ pic isnt working for some reason…

I hate to say it, but the concern expressed by the previous poster is similar to the concern I have. I hope that Voodoo quality turns out to be good, because the configuration of their 2-rifle case sounds like what I want. But given the price range and the similarity to some others out there, I’m just wondering. So, waiting before I buy. I’d rather get something of quality, and if this ain’t it, I’ll keep looking.

Hoping some other posters that have experience with a lot of these cases can shed some light.

If you’re just looking for something to go back and forth to the range with then I think you’d be well served with a Voodoo or Condor bag. I’ve been using a Condor 36" rifle bag for the last couple of years for that purpose and the occasional camping trip and it has held up great. The zippers are all smooth and it has adequate padding for my gun as well as plenty of storage.

I got mine from cheaper than dirt and I think condor also makes a 2 rifle version as well. (here’s mine: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MOLLE204-6.html)

When I was looking for some cheap softcases for my 22 trainer and some other rifles I tried out the house brand at Midway USA:

I am very impressed with not only those cases but their range bag and drag bag that I ordered after I got the first cases. I think they are all imports but for the price the quality is tough to beat. If you are looking for an everyday use case there is nicer cases but I just use these for range cases etc.

I like to buy Eagle cases used .Price is usually much cheaper than new and the Eagle quality…well it’s bombproof and you still have Eagle Lifetime warranty…and it’s made in USA

Im waiting to get the 5.11 double rifle case since I have not seen any “air soft copies” of it. I do have a Uncle Mikes tactical rifle case that i bought back in college and its good quality. Paid $30 i think at targetmaster in PA. I have been fitting an AK and AR into it unzipped. I would be unable to do this if it weren’t a quality case. But now I want to a double case to carry my rifles.

^ how do you put up a youtube video??

I do not own a Voodoo case but Last weekend I ran a 2 day Combative Carbine course and one of my students had one.

I asked him about it and he said he really liked it.

He let me poke around at it and I gotta say that the quality seemed pretty good and its space/ features were very in line with what I’m looking for.

And the price was acceptable.

That being said there is sense in what Impact said about buying a used Eagle case.

Bottom line is; Yes, I would buy one of the Voodoo cases and probably be happy with it.

Some Eagle products are no longer made in the USA, just an FYI as some people are surprised by this. The quality does not seem to be affected though.

There is a lot of truth in that statement. There are a number of products made off CONUS that are still rugged enough for most folks to use for just the range to the car and vice-versa.

At the end of the day, it’s about quality control standards and the integrity of the folks who associate their names with the product. Eagle can use off-shore vendors and still have good products, just like TAD Gear and other vendors. Eagle makes great stuff, to be sure, although many nylon products – even those made off-shore – will likely exceed the needs of most firearms owners.

A friend once told me the “average” firearms owner buys a firearm, fires 10 rounds through it, puts it in the safe and never touches it again. Certainly, some of the folks at M4C don’t fit that mold, but some M4C members are not reflective of most users – and definitions of reliability and durability vary from mission to mission. Yes, we might even fire thousands of rounds in training per year, but very few of us are actually doing HALO jumps or maritime operations with our range bags.

Most folks just don’t have as strenuous a mission as we might wish to purport…

FWIW, my personal stash is all top-notch gear, as I learned a long time ago to “never be afraid of buying the best, as you will rarely be disappointed.” That said, I have been issued much gear that has served quite well, even with the lower price tag…

I totally agree. I sell the crap out of condor bags and they do great. I have had nothing but good reviews from them.

Pretty much sums it up. People get to serious to the point that it renders there selection process in terms of gear. Yes it would be very nice to have a bomb proof waterproof bag that secretly turns into a camping shelter or a body bag if needed. But if all its doing is sitting in your trunk/closet only to be taken to the range twice a month then the money definitely could have been spent elsewhere such as on ammo, extra mags, etc. I’ll definitely look into one if prices are kept fairly low.

True for the most part. But i personally dont want to shell out 100 bucks for something that is poor quality and made for air soft. Who wants crap zippers that snap in half or zipper teeth that come apart? What about carry handles that cant hold weight of your $1000k weapon?

I would rather spend 10 bucks and buy a bat bag at walmart. Since its 90 bucks cheaper and has the same crap zippers and carry handles.

On the rare occasion I bother with a rifle case, I don’t even use a rifle case as GOOD as VooPoop tactical. :stuck_out_tongue:

I see no value in designer/boutique rifle cases.

I purchased a 36" double case from VooDoo along with a shotgun scabbard. Both arrived yesterday. I am VERY pleased with the quality, size, and size/location of the compartments. I think my total was $130 incl shipping but I can now carry my AR, my dedicated .22lr upper, and my CZ 452 along with all my gear in one bag. I can also strap the shotgun scabbard to it. With the onboard pistol compartments I should be GTG for a long day at the range with one bag and an ammo can or two.

I picked up one of the el-cheapo cases from LA Police Gear. Works fine. Holds four mags, holds my 16" AR w/ Aimpoint and a 20-round mag in it, and seems plenty sturdy enough to carry the rifle from my home to my truck, and from my truck to the range. I’m not using it to HALO jump or anything like that, just to prevent the rifle from getting knocked around in my truck. Why blow $160 or more on a carrying case when you could be spending that money on ammo, mags, or saving up for new guns/optics?

BTW, the $20 Wally-World cases are great for most bolt-guns and shotguns.

I have the Voodoo case. The quality is pretty darn good. I carry an M4, Rem 870, mags, and two glocks to the range in it. The only complaint is that it isn’t very rigid and the retention system could be better. It doesn’t hold the guns in place as securely as I would like. But for Sportsman’s price, I don’t think there is anything else even close. For serious duty I put my rifle in a pelican case. FWIW.

Are the voodoo measurements inside or outside? I would love to be able to put one inside my Pelican.

Or a racket bag

Where exactly are you getting info on zippers failing or their poorly constructed products? Just curious
