AR15 grips - who likes Tangodown pistol grips?

I am looking for opinion on the Tangodown grips. It is very different from standard A2 or other AR grips. It changes the handle angle, and I’m not quite sure how to describe it. At one time, I think HK was using it for their M416 but they have since used their own grip design.

I’m trying to figure out pro/con before I commit to getting it. I’m wondering what you all think about it.

I always liked the A1 grip that my issued M-16A1 had. To me the TD enhances that A1 grip.
I have a couple TD grips that I use occasionally and plan on getting a couple more.
They need a long length 5/32 allen wrench for installing/removing.
I lost the ones that came with the grips somewhere and on short notice had to go buy a set of T handles so I could remove one.
I since have ordered a bunch of 5/32 long allens and give them to my friends for their AR tool kits too.
Have some extra wrenches for them, they are relatively cheap.

Have two love them both. They are the perfect shape for my hands. I think they are a bit over priced, but they are very nice.

I like mine because fits my hand perfectly when wearing gloves.

One solid plus is that the grip has a little lip that covers the gap behind the trigger guard. FWIW, I went with a MIAD on my primary AR and switched the TD over to the M&P15-22.

I like the size and angle of the TD grip. I replaced my LWRC’s MIAD grip with a TD grip. Very comfortable grip…

Due to wrist injury the grip does not work for me, but is a very high quality and well designed grip. I have a like new Tango Down grip that is a take-off from my Noveske I’d be willing to make you a deal on if you decide to go that way.

I love my TD grip…I’m not really a fan of the MIAD/MOE grips.

I love mine. Much better than the MIAD. The inner compartment might be a little less versatile than the MIAD’s but that’s pretty insignificant toss up IMO

I have two CR-123 batteries and a pair of foam earplugs in my TD.

I like it better than the MOE grip I currently have. But frankly, I think the original M16 grip was best. The A2 that every gun comes with stock isn’t really bad (except for the awful finger groove). I think folks are just bored and looking for a doo-dad ( GOD KNOWS I AM GUILTY OF THAT).

I use one on my current AR and I like it more than the MIAD I had on my last AR. Just feels better in my hand. I also like it a hell of a lot more than the A2 grip. I can definitely recommend it for use.

It’s perfect for small hands, too (like mine).

Did anyone find they have had to adjust after using Tangodown and then using the standard grip? I wonder what the effect of the TangoDown;s grip angle does on the controllability or manueverability of the carbine.

I guess I’m the only one that DOESN’T like it. The higher angle of that grip is a step in the wrong direction. More importantly it fails to accomplish the main thing I look for in aftermarket grips: increasing the “length of pull” or distance between the web of your hand to the trigger. For 90% of shooters the A2 (and Tangodown) length grips are way too short, causing the shooter to have to curl his finger backwards in an awkward position. Grips that have a piece of plastic that curves up to postition your hand back a little are better. I would look at the MIAD or, if you have smaller hands, the ergo grips which are thinner than the MIAD. I would just as soon use a standard A2 as a tangodown.

In my experience it’s a step down in terms of ergonomics. It forces you to rotate your hand farther down which for me just feels unnatural. I switched mine out for an Ergo and then settled on a Magpul MOE.

I switched from MIAD’s to TDs for my guns. They’re simpler, and I have fairly small hands, so they work. The grip angle thing doesn’t carry much water for me. It isn’t tough. I do put a basic wilson tennis racket grip held on by a HSLD cut up piece of bike tire inner tube on them.

I love my TD grip. I have medium-sized hands and this grip doesn’t make me feel as though I’m gripping the big end of a ball bat! I like the battery compartment too! I also like the texture of the grip.

the TD is best for me. i have big hands and these fit the best, with or without gloves. also the smaller size helps hand fatigue when doing alot of manipulation type drills. the smaller size lets me really put alot of force into my grip.

I used an Ergo grip on my last build, it’s alot like the tango down.
I’m pretty happy with it, the little compartment seems to find ways to end up open… one day I may just glue it shut…
