Guys who is making a decent barrel wrench? I’m willing to spend some money, looking for high quality.
Thx for the help.

For which kind of barrel nut?
I like my good old DPMS multi tool wrench
5.56 standard nut. If it has/does other functions that is fine too.
For standard ARs I like the Smith Enterprise wrench followed by the DPMS and USGI wrenches.
Thx Robb, do you happen to have a link? I was on their website last night but could not their 5.56 wrench. I found their 308 wrench but no luck with a 5.56
Thxs frens. I was there last nite too. I must have missed it.
I like the Smith Enterprises because you don’t have to compress the weld spring in the delta ring while loosening/tightening the barrel nut.
I did not know that. Thank you Robb.
When I look at the pics on Brownells I can’t see how it’s any different than a DPMS or other common wrench - what’s changed that affects the Delta ring?
+1 for Smith Enterprises. They are huge and forged, and they don’t pussy around with just a couple of pins. The wrench completely encloses 270 degrees of the barrel wrench.
It’s thinner where it engages the barrel nut teeth. I.E. it doesn’t have to engage well past the barrel nut teeth requiring it’s user to compress the weld spring and turn the wrench. Much easier to use and not slip off really tight barrel nuts.
Ah - it wasn’t obvious from the little pics on Brownells site. That’s one of the major annoyances from barreling, I agree. Thanks!
I have the Smith, DPMS and GI barrel wrenches.
All of them suck.
Waiting on LaRue or Hammerhead to make a good wrench.
I have no idea if they made it, but I have a BM wrench for M4s. I see no way it could ever be broken doing work on AR-15s.
I have a PRI wrench and it is a fucking monster. It grabs the full 360 degrees of the barrel nut and will fit 1/2" and 3/8" wrenches. Very well made. You wil obviously have to remove your FSB to use a PRI style wrench. But for breaking loose a stubborn barrel nut, nothing beats it.
The DD wrench works well with their bolt-up system. I was surprised how nice it worked.
What you wrote here really intrigues me. I was surprised to see that on Brownell’s site the wrench got a few bad reviews based on it’s limited function. Meaning it wouldn’t fit things such as a flash hider with it’s cut out’s not being quite correct.
I was just curious if you had experienced anything along those lines? Actually my own question isn’t a deal breaker for me on it the main application would be installing/removing the main barrel nut without fighting the delta components.
Thanks.
