AR Tactical Training in OHIO???

Hey guys, I’ve been doing so much reading that my head hurts now. Is there an AR tactical training course in Ohio, preferably in north west Ohio? Not alot of rifle things going on this flat land, I called Camp Perry in sandusky but I would have to join some rifle marksmanship club, and I’m not ready to dish out that kind of cash just yet.

I used to be a soldier, but we all know they dont teach you how to use the weapon tactically.

I would suggest looking for classes that are held in the state or close by in Michigan/Indiana/Pennsylvania etc. I know the classes Steve is hosting with Magpul are filled in MI, but these types of opportunities are always on the training/AAR boards here.

We also have a regional training group that just met in PA the end of January and there is one scheduled May 1 & 2 in NE Ohio. No matter what you do it’s going to cost money. Lodging, ammo, food etc will all cost money. If you go to a class then that will also increase things anywhere from $400-600 as well.

I am lucky having a local range that runs 2 gun matches and also has a very small goup of like minded individuals that trains after hours. Try finding local ranges in your area and seeing what type of facility it is and if those options exist.

A little bit further south and east but TDI-Ohio offers Tactical Carbine a few times a year, great instructors and excellent facilities.

You can also check Big Darby Shooting Range outside Columbus, OH; they’ve hosted a few classes in the last year by Bennie Cooley, Pat Rogers and Magpul.

Otherwise Boone County, IN hosts classes by Pat Rogers as well as others.

eh, the ranges around Findlay arnt that great. unless your shooting pistol or clay shooting. Nothing really around here for rifle ranges, and forget about the long ranges, I dont even think there is a range out there more than 200yrds in ohio excluding Camp Perry.

Hackathorn and Tom Taylor are a few instructors at least in my area(SE Ohio). Taylor trains the local S.O. and for the life of me I can’t remember his website. If I can think of it I’ll post.

damn, us N/W ohio guys need to find someone in our area, “if you build it, they will come” or the local people will deny it. Bigger range that is.

Thats not too bad though. A little far, but if the resources arnt close, then I guess go to the resources.

Thunder Valley Precision outside of Coshocton (East of Columbus) has a 1000 yd range, plus a few targets beyond that.

Really! I thought I found the list for all of them. Is there a website, for more info? This would surly be a private club, and contact info.
