I have a buddy of mine who wants to put one of these in his carbine.
He asked me what I thought about them and I had no reply, I have never seen one of these before. Has anyone here used one and if so what was your experience, I told him just to stay with a standard milspec setup but he is intent on getting one because they say it can soften reciol???
obviously, most times you increase complexity, you increase the chance of a failure, so i certainly wouldn’t recommend adding one to a defensive gun.
but the buffer tech ar-restor is a decent product. I have one in my 3gun carbine and machine gun and know a couple of other people who have them in machine guns. (all of which are “hard-use” guns but none of them are defensive weapons)
The only problems I’ve heard of have been that they don’t work in cold weather. i wouldn’t know as it doesn’t get cold here.
now, the other pneumatic buffer that olympic makes is definitely something to steer clear of.
as for recoil… it doesn’t alter the laws of physics in any way. but it definitely, but subtly changes the feel of recoil to one i think is more favorable for fast shooting. It is not a replacement for proper technique or practice.
If he wants something like this, tell him to save the extra $60 he will need and get an MGI RRB. It is a similar product but it actually works and it lasts. It will reduce muzzle climb.
if you get the ‘‘fab defense GI shock stock’’ which works with both MIL spec and commercial tubes without any wiggles etc …this is better then them east over shoe trick of the month -make a failure in the works parts that takes your money and may even kill you or break your weapon !
Exactly. From my personal experience alone, RRA is probably one of the last commercial market AR brands I would recommend.
Don’t buy a commercial grade AR that is completely over-gassed in an attempt to make it “reliable”, and you won’t have to worry about adding trinkets to it to try and smooth out the recoil impulse.
