Well I have decided to take the plunge and get a pistol carbine. I need thoughts on Model 1 9mm Carbine Upper. Has anyone used one what do you think or do you have any recommendations?
TRIPLE FAIL.
Sorry, Holmes. HUGE waste of cash. What would this build do that a regular service pistol won’t? Nothing.
Stupid phone…
well…my 9mm intergally supressed 9mm SBR will do 2 to 4" groups at 100 yards with a 2 MOA dot…I am pretty dam happy when I can do that at 25 to 50 yards with a pistol…
and as far as my other Pistol Caliber Carbine…it can do things I defintely can not do with my pistol in the same caliber…

An AR pistol is not the same is an AR carbine.
you are right…a pistol is not a carbine…now is the OP talking about a AR pistol in a pistol caliber, or a pistol caliber carbine…I took it as he was asking about a pistol caliber carbine…but that is me and it has been a LONG day.
Personally, I don’t see the need for a 9mm ar weather it’s a pistol or a carbine. For distances beyond practical pistol fighting range, I will use a rifle… and out of my rifle, I want rifle cartridge performance. YMMV.
Good question. Looking back his post is a little confusing.
Sorry for the confusion, I am seeking opinions on a pistol caliber carbine. My range won’t allow 223/5.56 carbines in our bays, but we can shoot pistol caliber (ammuniton) carbines instead. I have been looking at RRA, Olympic Arms, etc… and am wondering if any one has had any opinions.
thanks in advance!
if you’re truly confined to a pistol caliber ar, buy a colt. they are the only mfg that i would give a nod to as far as a 9mm ar goes. my local pro and i had this discussion today. unless you’re running a suppressed sbr in some kind of silent cqb operation (where 9mm really shines, as it is QUIET), i see no use for one… that’s me. i’d be looking for someone with land to shoot on or something. if you are using it for hd, i’d stick with a reputable service pistol if 9mm is the chambering of choice. no need to waste the money on the carbine. again… that’s me.
My advice to find another range or shoot in the outdoors.
I have had the olympic 9mm and it would eat everything I put into it, including wolf. I recommend the colt style though because you get to keep using your mag release.
My personal preference is the Colt Block. it uses set pins to tighten itself into place so it does not move. it allows me to finely adjust the block to allow all my mags to work. with the drops in blocks, I always seem to have a few that just wont quite work. The colt block also has las round hold open. it is not as sturdy a hold open as with standard rifle mags. my other preference is with the upper receiver. personally I love my side charging 9mm upper receiver I purchased from American Spirit Arms. it rocks. I have used standard uppers for 9mm and other pistol caliber ARs, and I just really like the side charging.
