So I have a Mega Maten receiver set that I am building up. I am going to put a Fulton Krieger M110 20" barrel on it. The rifle will run a collapsible stock.
So tell me about 308 BCG’s. How are the Young MFG NM? Why would I want one of those Lo-Mass JP’s?
If I was to build a LR-308 I’d buy the LMT MWS BCG. The JP lo mass will need to be coupled with an adjustable gas block.
LMT makes top-notch stuff, but my questions are:
I would recommend a JP bolt and standard full-weight carrier, or a complete BCG from a reputable company (IE DPMS). The JP bolt is very high quality and works fine with a standard DPMS carrier. I have also used a CMMG MK3 BCG but it required some extractor/ejector tuning.
The FA M110 20" barrel is a DPMS extension, so a DPMS pattern bolt is correct. The low-mass carrier would be of questionable utility unless you are building a specialized rifle with adjustable gas.
I have no clue about LMT 308 bolts and compatibility. I think you would satisfied with the JP/DPMS combo. I would AVOID some of the other 308 BCG’s from unknown brands unless you can measure then and ensure their dimensions are correct, and verify headspace with your barrel.
The M110 20" barrel is great, I have one. The bore finish and machine work is top notch, and it shot great right out of the box with a wide variety of loads. Barely fouls and cleans easily with just a few patches. It is heavy though!
They do sell them. I just bought one last week for 250.00 on sale from King Optics (now sold out).
It should work with all SR25/DPMS style receivers/barrels.
LMT is the BCG I’m going to use for my kit build.
It will be 80 percent KAC parts with only gas block, trigger, barrel, CH, and bcg being non-factory.
It’s been a long, painful journey with light at the end. Once I get my assembled upper; we’ll see how well the LMT works.
