Ar-15 red dot scopes?

I am leaning towards the bushnell trophy multi-reticle scope, but I wondered what everyone’s opinion is on a red dot for my ar.

Aimpoint or Eotech, if you’re looking for a reliable RDS that is unlikely to break and likely to hold zero. No good shortcuts in this arena…$129 buys you an offshore import that will have a questionable reliability record.

I agree with Hmac. I chose the Eotech Exps2 but there is a great case for the Aimpoint also.
If you have to go the less expensive route I would recommend you look at the Vortex SPARC.

If you’re looking at that sight, I would recommend an Aimpoint CompC3 or CompM3 instead.

Thanks hmac, I have tried eotech before and did not like it. My father in law has an aim point on his stag and I really like it. I’m just trying not to spend a small fortune. Thank you.

My opinion, Aimpoint PRO is the absolutely best value out there.

Look into a vortex strikefire. They’re about $170 and are really good red dots for the money. Primary Arms also makes good “budget” red dots ($200 or <).

Aimpoint PRO is an excellent RDS. You can usually find them for less than $400 (mount included) and they are probably the best deal going on a quality RDS. If you can find one that’s available in the current firearms-accessory environment…

Cruise around the EE here on M4C. Maybe there’s a used one around, although again in this environment, there’s unlikely to be any smoking deals.

I agree a Pro is your best bet.

HOWEVER, not everyone can spend $400 on an optic, so with that in mind, the only other option I would consider is a Primary Arms mini-red dot. They have a good reputation, and mine has been great on my range guns. However, I’d strongly encourage you to get an Aimpoint if at all possible.

I’m planning on running an Aimpoint Pro on my latest AR. I’ve been running Eotech but have heard good things on the Pro so I’m adding another vote for it.

Aimpoint PRO for the best deal. I have the M3, which is basically the PRO save for battery life, no mount, and maybe something else, probably you can go diving deeper with it, in case you are into that sort of stuff.

But if you plan on buying expensive, then the T-1 if you plan on using NVD’s or the H-1 if not, again with the T-1 you can go diving deeper with it, which should not be problem unless you do that sort of thing often.

Vote for Pro, then get a LaRue LT-129 or American Defense AD-68 mount for it since the stock mount (in pic) is a pain and I don’t trust it’s hold on the rails.

Worth the investment.

If your AR-15 is just for plinking Primary Arms will most likely suit you just fine. IF the weapon is for work then go with the Aim Point since your not an eotech fan.

Opinions vary on that. I have no issues or problems with the QRP mount on my PRO. If the OP decides on the PRO, he should run it for awhile and see if the knob bothers him. I’ve run a couple of carbine courses with it, so lots of time hanging…no problem.

Just stick with an aimpoint or eotech. You wont be disappointed and you get what you pay for.

I got the Aimpoint PRO for Christmas and its great. Before I even got the optic I found a like new LaRue LT-129 mount on the trader ads here. It sits on my DDV1. I need a bigger gun case then the one my V1 shipped in, the optic mounted will not fit, so I’ve had to take the optic off and on quite a bit. The LaRue mount holds zero every time. Great mount and great optic. The PRO also has NV settings and is a 2 MOA dot.
OP if your going to toss 150-200 on a less expensive optic, I personally would just put that money aside and wait until I can get the extra 200 for the PRO. It makes much more sense buying 1 quality optic then a less reputable one and having to spend 200 on another one, at that point it’s a money game. Do it right the first time.

You can sometimes find them for a tad less then 400. Just do some research and buy from a reputable company, G and R, LaRue, BCM, Rainer etc , keep an eye on the ads here as well.

Vote for the aimpoint pro. It is around $380 with q2 mount. Best bang for a buck.
