I use the Magpul MOE currently. I may be changing my furniture over to FDE, so I may go with a different grip when I do that. I HATE finger grooves, so whatever I get won’t have one of those. I also find the Hogue and Ergo grips way too damn thin.
Tango Down.
MIAD for me. But I’ve found that the medium back strap fits me best, so future builds will probably get MOEs.
Over the years I’ve used A1, A2, Hogue, TD, Ergo, MIAD and MOE grips. I’ve ended up with MOEs on most and A1 or A2 grips on a few. MOEs fit my hand very well.
Hope this isn’t considered a hi-jack, but since we’re talking about grips… I want one with the trap door to stow a firing pin, etc but the only one I seem to see is the Magpul that has that extended web up the back of the frame which I do NOT like. Who makes a standard type A2 grip with trapdoor? Thx…
Ergo on my old Bushmaster and a Tango Down on the new Noveske VTAC…
MIAD. It comes with a backstrap without the extended web and a front strap with the finger rest. You’ll have to buy the extra cost bottom plug for the firing pin.
Wow thanks alot fellas, answer in minutes as usual. This site is fantastic… Much appreciated.
Just ordered the Bushmaster A2 stow-away grip for my middy…
looks like its just you and me… this is the only grip i use. as you say, it’s basically an improved A2, which is why i dig it.
little more ergonomic, little better retention, but basically the same size and position with no stupid nub- AND it covers the gap.
I think the Tango Down pistol grip has a trap door too
it does… more of a trap rubber plug, but there it is.
Magpul MIAD with the smallest backstrap and no finger-notch frontstrap.
i love the standard a2 pistol grip. ![]()
MOE came on my M&P15, I like it and feel no reason to change. The only one I’d like to try is the Stark.
TD - love it. Just ordered a Stark for my current middy build…
Liked the MIAD in medium profile…so went with the MOE.
TD Battle Grip
I use A-2 grips that have been stippled with a soldering iron.
Original A1 style grip; can’t stand the A2 or anything with finger grooves. But I’m the same way on DA revolver stocks because I like to be able to adjust my grip a bit on the fly if necessary.
And, BTW, a rubber magazine cover for the M1/M2 carbine mag makes a dandy bottom cover for the grip and allows storage. Not sure if it’s completely waterproof but it is definitely a very close fit. A hair dryer on high helps get it fit on and shaped the first time and thereafter it works like it was designed for the job. The hardest part is finding the covers these days.
