AR-15 22lr Build

Hello everyone. I’m knew to this ar-15 building but have purchased a lower & going to slowly put it together while adding tools to do so. I have one question on building a 22lr version.

If I buy a dedicated 22lr upper, then I get the 22lr BCG. Correct?

If I use an ar-15 standard upper (5.56/223) then I need the 22lr conversion BCG. Right?

Any places I can get a the BCG & upper other then CMMG, Taccom, CORE-15?

There’s a certain handguard I want so don’t want to buy the full upper.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the links although it didn’t really answer my question. Reference vacation, if their were no views I wouldn’t had said anything.

You might get more traffic if your question was posted in the correct forum.

Valid. My apologies.

The BCG is almost identical. The only difference is the 22LR conversion BCG has a chamber insert for a 5.56mm chamber, and the 22LR dedicated BCG has a collar in place of the chamber insert that interfaces with the .22LR barrel extension. You can easily change out a chamber insert for a collar, or vice versa.

I think CMMG is your best bet here for 22lr parts. The 22lr BCG conversion w/ 1mag is $180 shipped at Aimsurplus

I think PSA also puts those magazines with stainless lips on sale quite often… maybe $12?

I haven’t shot a lot through mine but also have had no issues
