Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Does anyone wanna bet what will be the most googled four words today?

I feel left out

ETA: I googled it

No longer confused.

When I found out what happened this morning I couldnt stop laughing. Thats gotta be the best advertising for any show Ive ever seen.

MOONINITES 08!

Even if Turner pays the 500K to the city of Boston that would be the best advertising value in the history of TV. Think about it, they had hours and hours of coverage on every major news network yesterday. Unbelievable.

Absolutely amazing.

Do not underestimate the power of Ignignokt…

They have the Quad Laser:

“You will be destroyed! The explosion will be of extraordinary magnitude!”

Everyone in Boston is gay.

What boggles my mind is that the article I read said they had been up for 2-3 weeks in lots of different cities. Clearly no one else found them suspicious? I wouldn’t have been surprised if somebody reported the guys who were putting up devices, but once the little cartoon guys are flipping you off, it seems a little more harmless.

ERR = Lets go get drunk and rip off a ten speed.

I cant belive how much those signs are going for on EBay.

“It had a very sinister appearance,” Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley told reporters. “It had a battery behind it, and wires.”

Welcome to the Age of Electronics, Martha.

Who knew a Lite Brite was sinister?

I hope you can see this Boston, I’m doing it as hard as I can!

Yes, we are a joke:(

At least I was not stuck in traffic.

Wow, I’m very surprised at the reaction here and at lightfighter. Not that there is a right or wrong answer but I hope Boston has their way with these people in court. There are a lot of things to make fun of and a lot of ways to advertise but post 9/11, this wasn’t very well thought out. Nerves are still very raw. The placement of the “ads” at nearly every way out of Boston via land or water would cause reasonable people to give pause I think. Please forgive the well meaning citizens that called the authorities. Perhaps they should have gone up to them and yanked on the wires to see if it was harmless before calling.

Someone on LF mentioned “I guess they’ve already won” meaning the reaction is what potential terrorists are looking for. I prefer to look at it that increase vigilance will prevent something like 9/11 or worse from ever happening here again.

If I were the prosecutor, someone is going to jail. And when my guys come to arrest you, I would be overly polite and cooperative because I’m sure the EOD guys were NOT amused. And watch your head getting into the police car. These modern cars have very low rooflines and can be tricky to get in and out of so I hear.

The worst part of all of this is what Marc said in that you can’t pay for this kind of advertising. The signs are going for over $3k on ebay. Amazing country in many ways.

When I saw the picture of a armored up police officer taking one down, I started laughing.

I have to wonder how many of the folk sent out to take these down started laughing knowing they were removing Ignignokt.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zx2ytr2Oyv4 Funny video of the folk that put that up.

Cohiba,

I see where you are coming from, but I see this as one of those ‘where to draw the line and does it conflict with the 1st amdendment’ kind of issues.

Should we have regulations as to where signs and posters should be put up? Are there regulations and sign placement guides issued by local, state, and federal gov’ts that should have been followed? Should we create zoning restrictions to only allow signs that light up into certain areas? How obvious does an advertisement have to be for it to be acceptable?

These devices were about as advanced as a road construction blinker. Then you have to ask yourself why any group meaning to do harm would want to link itself with a stupid cartoon, and why they would have the devices light up and draw attention.

To me, the initial adds were interesting and funny. The reaction, or over-reaction was on the extreme side. Now it seems to me that because of this, they are looking to make someone accountable for their over reaction.

What I haven’t heard yet is if there was any sort of “This sign is the property of” sticker on them. Would that have been enough to keep this from happening?

“If I were the prosecutor, someone is going to jail. And when my guys come to arrest you, I would be overly polite and cooperative because I’m sure the EOD guys were NOT amused. And watch your head getting into the police car. These modern cars have very low rooflines and can be tricky to get in and out of so I hear.”

Wow, what exactly would be the crime? Don’t you need a crime or a harm before you put someone in jail?

Isn’t there just a little problem with the Fourth and Fifth Amendments in your plan? Is it now OK to beat people’s heads against the roof of the car because “EOD guys were NOT amused” post 9/11?

Again, we see how necessary it is to have separation of powers. Oh, the Founding Fathers must be rolling over in their graves. What’s become of the brave men who led the Boston Tea Party? Shivering in their boots because of a Lite Brite sign? Beaten by the truncheons of unamused police? My goodness.

M_P

Somobody needs to go to Jail allright and they work for the City of Boston. Anybody stupid enough to think these were bombs does not need to be sharing the streets and byways with normal people.

PS, The Moon rules painted all over Carls Car…

I love that show! Was it an advertisement for the movie that is never coming out? How many dimensions does the Moon have? Five…

Thousand. LMAO.

I didn’t follow the story, what’s the gouge?

“We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night
to visit violence on those who would do us harm.”
