Kyle,
Could you please offer your opinion of appendix carry setups for concealed carrying of a handgun? Wondering if there are speficic applications where appendix carry is an advantage or disadvantage. Thanks for your participation.

It has applications that I train some guys in often. Small, select applications but very important to some. These guys are serious players and do some good work often.
A lot of people also like it because it is grossly faster than side carry. I have observed over the years an average .10-.15 faster draw, even when first introducing it to shooters. Experienced guys with a little time will average .20 faster than side carry. All of this from concealed.
As with anything, it has drawbacks, otherwise I think more guys would rock it. One drawback is that when fighting close it is easy to have the weapon pinned because of body position. Another is kneeling and prone depending on holster maker. Lastly, it’s like the high port of holsters- it works but old timers are scared of it.
As far as the muzzle thing, I don’t think it’s a big deal. IWB is pointed at the outside of your thigh, aiwb is pointed toward the inside. An ND with either is not good. All those that scream femoral have probably never seen someone shot there.
I use a Safariland 27 or custom carry concepts shaggy model. Shawn L told me of another one, that is supposedly bomber but I’ve forgotten the name ( pipe in Pittsburg!), maybe garritt? Or something?
I try to use an aiwb every so often in classes except when it is really cold and i go owb because of clothing layers.
