Apparently Bushmaster has gotten promoted

Not a huge deal, but things like this make me yell at the TV. It was a story about the sharp rise in sales of the AR platform of rifles since the horrible Sandy Hook tragedy. The whole story was meant to be about the AR platform, but they kept calling it the Bushmaster AR-15. In any case, it’s typical of the liberal media complex not only trying to make the “scary black rifle” the focus of their attack on our Second Amendment Rights, but their poor ass attempt to get any of the facts in their stories right.

Walked by the TV after the news tonight and “Inside Edition” was on. That’s when I heard, “At the center of the debate is the most popular rifle in America - the Bushmaster AR-15, the same model used by the madman in the Sandy Hook massacre.”

What? The BUSHMASTER AR-15 is the most popular rifle in America? I know quite well the AR platform is the most popular rifle in America, but it sounds like Bushmaster is now accredited with creating the AR platform (or at least the sole maker of such fine line of weapons.)

I thought, well maybe there is a chance the Bushmaster’s AR platform is the highest selling out of all the manufacturers. So I figured I could give them a little break.

Then I hear some expert say, "Miller said on the CBS Morning Show, “Downrange from a target far away, something you would have trouble with hitting accurately with a handgun, you can put the round right there. It is an easy gun to shoot.”

What? Now I’m starting to get pissy with the TV. Of course you can hit a target from far away, easier than you can with a handgun - that explains ANY FREAKING RIFLE. That’s THE POINT of a rifle.

In any case, to prove me wrong with giving them a break on the Bushmaster thing, they close by saying, “The company that manufactures the bushmaster has pulled all of it’s commercials and ads in the wake of the shootings.”

:confused:Huh, really guess they do believe Bushmaster is the only AR out there. Not to mention, in the transcript they posted they didn’t even capitalize Bushmaster, essentially making it the common name for the AR platform.

Here’s the link to the print version of the piece on TV - http://www.insideedition.com/headlines/5528-rifle-sales-on-the-rise-in-wake-of-sandy-hook-tragedy

End of rant and rambling. Probably looking into too much, but the way they said it in the video was definitely misleading. Go figure.

So let me get this straight… You are so surprised that the media is a bunch of left wing ignorant idiots, that don’t know the first thing about guns or shooting, that you felt the need to type up several paragraphs ranting about it?

Well okay… Rant on. No argument here.

Ha, no just needed to vent. Started venting to the wife and she didn’t understand. Go figure again!

Let me guess, you got the “I’m trying really hard to pretend to be interested, but really I’m just waiting for you to stop talking” stare?

Yes. I know that one well…

Good. Let them ban Bushmaster. They make low quality garbage

Hopefully they will ban Bushmaster AR’s…

I want to say “What they don’t know will not hurt us”, but I really do not believe it. Other networks are not as specific. Take a look at Fox…

The media won’t ever assume that because it’s the most popular rifle in America it’s the most likely rifle in any crime involving a rifle. Instead they’ll assume it means there’s killers everywhere. Kinda dumb as always. But hey, now I wonder what bushmaster will do about their future.

Those reports are aimed at the non gun wise public and they talking to them like they are children so they understand the general point of the report…

I thought this thread was going to be about Cerberus selling freedom group, I heard this on the news tonight.

I thought about that after I posted. Should’ve picked a different title.
