The cat’s finally out of the bag, thats for sure. Just wondering what most of my brothers in arms are feeling about this statement last night during the debate:
“But I also share your belief that weapons that were designed for soldiers in war theaters don’t belong on our streets. And so what I’m trying to do is to get a broader conversation about how do we reduce the violence generally. Part of it is seeing if we can get an assault weapons ban reintroduced. But part of it is also looking at other sources of the violence. Because frankly, in my home town of Chicago, there’s an awful lot of violence and they’re not using AK-47s. They’re using cheap hand guns.”
This seems to me to, that not only does he want a new more permanent AWB, but also that he wants to place restrictions on handguns or possibly try and ban them as well.
Any thoughts on the matter? This concerns ALL of us.
Handguns are illegal in Chicago so obviously these criminals can still get them so what makes them think it will stop. There will always be guns but if they do this ban the crimes will get worse because there will be no fear for the bad guys with the guns, because they know that everyone else doesn’t have a form of defense, this country will fall!
Obama supporters are biting their fingernails, hoping no one heard Obama say he will push for more gun control if he wins a second term as the issue has been proven to be a ballot box loser.
However, there are still some 6920s for $1030 on gunbroker, so buy one today if you are not all stocked up already as I expect we will see a modest run on them.
Unless a major terroist attack or an Iran-Israeli war occurs between now and the election BHO is going to win, we might as well face up. I have no doubt that he would love to at the very least reinstate the Clinton era AWB however I just don;t see him getting the support from the house and Senate. As long as we can maintain a decent majority in the house and gain maybe a seat or 2 in the Senate(which I don;t see happening thanks to that idiot in Missouri and the rape/abortion debacle a few weeks ago) we should be alright. Politicans are smart people , for the most part, and in this day and time with the power of the NRA(If you are not a member you need to join now) they know that agreeing to a AWB is political suicude in most states expect for the most liberal. I think if anything BHO may be able to get thru a bill which will make it harder tog et ammo online which sucks but I don;t see him being able to get a Clinton style AWB thru the House.
My main concern is the possibility of the next President choosing as many as 4 Supreme Couty Justices. Justices Ginsberg, Breyer, Scalia, and Kennedy are all up in their 70’s and anything can happen at that age. I think if BHO is re-elected before he gets out of office the very liberal Ginsberg and Breyer will step down ensuring 2 liberal justices take their place. In a court where in most major issues is split 5-4 this would shape policies for decades to come. If Scalia who si the most conservative justice on the court where to pass away or be forced to retire that would shift the majority to the liberals and would make it hard for anything firearm related to get overturned or ruled in our favor. This is my main concern as Presidents, Senators and Represenatives come and go but Justices are there to stay.
I wholeheartedly agree that the talk of an AWB could drive prices through the roof for a bit though. I also wholeheartedly agree with Mark M that some sort of attempt at passing gun control (and succeeding) would be more likely under a Romney administration.
I don’t think ANYone had any illusions as to President Obama’s personal and political belief’s toward gun control. The question has always been whether he try and pass anything.
United States is becoming so liberal and these so called politicians are ignorant to the fact that guns are not the problem its the idiot holding the gun that is responsible for shooting. If people wouldnt get free food, housing and a free phone and had to work like most we probably would’nt have all these shootouts and b.s. going on. All the shootings in our town are normally had in the free housing part of town… A firearm doen’t have a brain it just does what it was intended to do. SHOOT!
I still think its a toss up 50 50 shot for either one of them. Remember 2000, this election will be closer than Bush Gore. Remember all that bull. The day after we will not know who the president elect is.
Some have said that riots in the streets if Obutthole is not re-elected. Talking to some Sheriff’s deputies in this county and the one next to us, and what the officers tell me is said by the Ghetto Goblins they arrest, Yeah I believe it.
If you have to buy something gun related between now and the end of the year purchase something that is standard but still not in high demand.
For example I want to build a rifle version of the C7 with all Magpul MOE rifle Furniture.
I have found a repo 20" M16A1 barrel with 1/12" twist from green mountain. Not something that would be high volume right now or something everybody wants. So the A1 upper, along with the furniture and other parts I will be buying soon. But the lower, LPK, Bolt Bolt Carrier, Ect. I will wait for till after the election and the first of the year when hopefully the Manufacturers can catch up.
I will also be buying either a Benelli M2 Tactical or M4 Tactical, which ever I can get a good deal on but not going to break the bank or in big hurry. These are in demand but in general a $1000+ semi-auto shotty is not a big seller most will want an AR or good handgun.
So Yeah Buy but buy wisely. Watch for good deals and watch for too good to be true for they are the scammers.
If anything buy ammo but buy it smart and only to put a “Little” back. For example I am looking for some IMI M193 but haven’t found any. When I find some I will buy maybe 200 rounds if its priced to high but if its more reasonalble I will buy the 1200 rd case.
