Anyone run these hard, especially the FSP 12.0 model and have any trouble with them coming loose, shearing the set screws, or anything else?
I havent but here’s a video of it surviving more than most of us could or would ever put it through.

If you manage to break one then I will be impressed. I have owned a couple and they are rock solid.
I have one. It is a little on the heavy side yet not too bad, but it is rock solid. As stated by kwelz, if you manage to break one I’d be damned impressed. Heck if it can withstand what LAV threw at it, then it should well surpass your needs. Unless you plan on launching it out of a helicopter repeatedly. It will give you plenty of real estate for whatever kind of setup you want to run.
Can the lower half of the OmegaX be easily removed for cleaning like the RISII?
The OmegaX’s are my favorite DD HGs. Pretty much as light as the LITEs without the huge hulking attachment bolts and the best part - the profile is MUCH thinner on the OmegaXs.
Before I went with the TROY HGs on some of my rifles, I had swapped out my LITEs for OX’s. I still have an OX on my SBR and ain’t changin’ it. Unless an M1 tank drives over an OX, it ain’t movin’, if it’s properly installed. Make sure the set screws are loc-tite’d and make sure they make contact with the flats on the supplied barrel nut.
Ive been running one on my DDm4 since I got it in early 09(I have one of the early Savannah marked guns under serial #1000) and have had zero issues with it. Its a bit heavy compared to say a Troy TRX, but I dont really notice it to much. I think a slightly heavier stock to offset the weight of the rail system would balance a bit better, but I am still running the MOE that came on the gun. I will admit I try not to beat my rifles up, but its been banged against enough shooting benches, dragged through the mud and rocks(damn MS2/ASAP combination I put on the gun), hosed down to get the mud out, etc… with no real wear and no damage to any rail sections.
Heavy compared to what? They are pretty light, especially when you consider they have integrated QD attachment points.
Huh? TRX weighs significantly more. Not sure how you guys see the Omega X as heavy as it weighs 1 ounce more than a DD Lite and it does not require any QD attachments.

If you are comparing it to a TRX extreme, well then that is apples to oranges. If compared to a DD Lite or Centurion C4, it is on par.
Thanks all - and again, just looking at ruggedness for now and reports.
I should have been more specific. Heavy as opposed to a 7" Omega X that I have on my other build. But yeah I agree it is still light. And the integrated QD points are a big plus, and the ability to mount a light at 12 o clock while retaining the FSB.
I think the DD test video answers your durability questions. I have the FSP and it is awesome and can be found for $200 at Midway.
What I like most is how thin it is. Also, with the FSP rails you can mount a Surefire x300 or TLR-1 at 12 o’clock.
The “Lite” version looks like a sturdier design (and probably is) but for all practical sense, the Omega X is plenty solid.
If you want a longer reach and don’t want to shave or replace the FSP, it may be the best option IMO.
I installed a RIS II for a buddy and found and it feels like a log compared. I’m not sure why anyone without a M203 would want one.
They rock! :dirol:

Omega X FSP
Yes.
OP I had an FSP12 on my old 16" upper. Never had a problem with it.
I have 3 on my own personal rifles. I have installed and more than a couple dozen on other peoples rifles. I have had no issues, nor am I aware of any of that I installed that had issues. Great rail.
Oh, I will be installing another one in a couple hours or so. ![]()
I am very happy with mine. That being said, I am no where near the torture tests that others have put them through, of course they lived very well through those.
Unless your planning on purposely trying to destroy it or have some major bad luck in terms of major accidents it should be fine.
I have a DDM4v5 which came with the OX12". I have banged the hell out of it, many times by accident. A girl has even dropped it onto concrete, sigh . But the sights are still holding strong and have not changed zero.
