if so, how do you like it? detailed pics? i have a pro that i would like to have the option of mounting a light. springfield armory cautioned against installing a rail like a dawson or novak, saying it could weaken the frame and they would not warranty the pistol if one was installed, even if they did it.
the nice lady at the custom shop offered to take my order for a railed pro with no money upfront and they would call me in 18 months when it was ready. i appreciated that but decided it was not a practical option for me.
I am curious about this myself…currently running a old skool Surefire 310R on a springfield at home. I recently acquir an Ed Brown Special Forces Model that I thought of adding a new skool Surefire light to.
I bought one. It is pretty solid and works well. Light attaches quite nicely and it doesn’t mar up the frame. You do however really need the DG switch as the light controls are low enough they are hard to use.
The only issue I have with it is it tends not to fit holsters for a 1911 with a light attached because it adds bulk.
I have one on an older Kimber. I like it and it works well with a x300 or TLR-1. It was already mentioned, but it may not fit a standard 1911 w/light holster. I ended up making a kydex holster myself to use with it.
At first, I was kind of hesitant to do so… thinking it would scratch my frame. All I have to say is I love it. It keeps it’s zero very well and does not scratch up the frame. Keep in mind you have to replace your slide lock with a new one that is included with the MR07. The slide lock is what keeps the MR07 attached to the 1911. Therefore every time you clean/disassemble your firearm, you have to take the MR07 off your firearm. The laser on the X400 is still zeroed in after I reassemble the firearm.
There is a small plastic piece on the MR07 you have to tighten with an allen wrench against your firearm’s trigger guard to secure the MR07. It does not leave any marks as well. I totally recommend the Surefire MR07 for any 1911 non-railed owners who want a rail.
