Anyone using one of their holsters? Are they of the quality of, say Raven? (I have a Phantom for my G19 and like it)
I say this because I was looking into getting another OWB holster and this company is located in my state and I try to support businesses in my state if I can.
Any opinions…either way…would be appreciated. I cannot find anyone that owns a holster from these guys and their stuff looks pretty good.
I had one for OWB with my M&P Shield. It felt completely unbalanced when the pistol was holstered. It sat too high above the belt loops and was very top-heavy with no way for me personally to adjust it. I bought it because Raven had a crazy wait time on the Phantom for the Shield at the time. I sold it soon after because I hated how it carried, and then ordered a Raven Phantom which I love and carries very well. I had a Phantom for my G19 before I bought the Bravo holster, and while the fit and finish was great on the Bravo, I am still partial to my Raven holsters. They just tend to hold the gun tighter to my body in OWB carry. Just my opinion.
I have one for a 226, and It has worked great for me. One thing is as it came, the retention was pretty tight. That’s easy to fix, but something to note. I have two friends who are big fans and have a few each. I got mine based on their recommendation, and it’s fine. I wouldn’t say they are way better, or worse than a lot of the other makers out there. I just bought an RDR holster to try, and I can compare them when it shows up.
I have a Bravo for a G17 w/ a TLR1. The retention was very loose and the kydex seems pretty flimsy. I have had much better luck with Raven and Fury Carry Solutions.
I use Bravo for appendix carry and really like them. 1 is for a Shield and another is for a Glock 19. For OWB I had a Bravo and Raven and ended up choosing the Raven because the retention just felt better.
I have a couple and have been pleased with their products. I picked up the first a couple years ago for a Walther PPQ because of the price point and short wait time. It is an OWB, wears well, fits the gun well and I used it in a 2 day Vickers class without problems. I recently picked up a used Bravo holster from our EE for a G19. It has belt loops for OWC and J-Hooks for IWB carry. I’ve not spend any time on the range or CCW with it yet. No complaints overall…hope this helps.
I occasionally use one with an M&P9 with TLR1 for hunting or hiking. It does sit pretty high, as others have mentioned. I adjusted retention (too tight at first) quite easily. While I had my heat gun out for adjusting the retention, I also heated the corners at the belt loops and adjusted them to my hip contour. This made the holster/pistol fit much closer to my body. It’s quite decent for the price and availability.
RCS doesn’t have many light bearing other than Glock, M&P and 1911 in their Quick Ship line but they will certainly make you a holster for what ever application they have a mold for. They’ll keep earning my cash as long as their quality and responsiveness to customers doesn’t go downhill.
I take back my previous comments and am now ordering a new RCS holster! Thanks gents. Mea Culpa RCS.
ETA: this is why I miss Tom. Tom was the man over there, and answered all of my stupid questions right away. He even sent me free gear numerous times while I was deployed and when I got home.
Agreed. Tom is a great dude, and I definitely wish him the best.
For OWB, I’m a huge fan of Raven Concealment and Dark Star Gear. Both have worked extremely well for me and my kin.
For IWB, my go-to is either a Milt Sparks Versa-Max II or a Comp-Tac MTAC. Both offer all-day comfort. The Comp-Tac is considerably easier and faster to purchase.
