hello, just curious to see if anyone has sent a upper or 2 (in my case) back for repair to BCM? i have 2 uppers that the barrel was not centered in the end of the kmr rail. one which is my brothers is a factory 14.5 bfh pinned with kmr 13, the other (mine) is a bcm 11.5 bfh with kmr 10. so far bcm has been great as far as getting it in to be inspected/repaired. thanks in advance for any replies
Pics of the defective products, showing the issue? Lots of people here own such uppers, I’m sure they’d like to see.
sorry no pics, guess it would have been a good idea to take some. they arrived at bcm this morning. but i ASSURE you that both uppers have off centered barrels. it was easily noticeable on both.
How’d you discover this? When zeroing?
Right this very moment, dozens of members are grabbing their BCMs to see if their rails and barrels are properly aligned.
i first discovered this when my bro got his and i was just looking at it and noticed it was off center, with mine the 11.5 i first noticed when i installed a troy alpha rail and it was wayyyyy off. so i said screw that since ive seen several having the same issue with that rail and went and bought a kmr 10 from my lgs. well after the smith installed it was slightly better but still off very noticeable. but the real kicker came when i went to visit my suppressor in nfa jail, once attached it really made it apparent that the barrel was not straight. but when zeroing both our sight were off to the left and of course both the barrels are off the the right when facing the muzzle. hope that makes sense
haha hopefully its an isolated incident
It should be. My KMR shoots great.
Kinkbmx, I take it, you BMX? I have an awesome Kink stem on my bike.
i agree, they have been great so far taking care of me. even though technically i did alter my upper they said they are more than willing to fix!!! but yea use to, not soo much anymore my lil man and work have gotten the best of me here lately lol but yes just like bcm, kink bmx eqiup is top notch
If you have questions about turn around time, you should have asked them when you contacted them. Issues like this are so rare I highly doubt that there is a backlog of uppers.
A little follow up to this.
Several details have been left out of the OP’s post in regards to his situation. He contacted BCM over 45 days ago and his concerns were addressed almost immediately. He was sent an RMA tag and never followed through until a few days ago (which is still being verified).
In addition the FSB was chopped and grinded to fit under said Troy rail.
Why it was felt even necessary to post this is beyond me, especially in light of the fact that the issue was addressed by BCM and in light of the fact that he modified the upper.
