Anyone running AAC Mini4

Is anyone here running the AAC Mini4, specifically on anything shorter than 14.5? I am about to order a SCAR CQC for use as a quick-access patrol rifle for felony stops and and other 10-0 calls. I know AAC says it will not be hearing safe at that barrel length, but can any of you see major benefits with a larger (M42k) can on a setup like this.

  • This rifle is secondary to a current AR rifle and will simply serve as a far superior option than a duty handgun in an emergency.

-Weight is an issue, and this thing needs to be able to be swung around in the front seat of a crown vic in a hurry.

  • As stated, I don’t really need “hearing-safe” (if there is such a thing in 5.56 cans) but I also don’t want to be flashbanging myself everytime I pull the trigger. God forbit if It ever had to be fired from inside the vehicle. :fie:

I don’t have that can but I have experience with other mini cans. I’m definitely a fan. From the shooters ear there isn’t a great difference between them, and you have reduced blowback and action noise from the little cans.

I have an AAC Mini4 that I use mostly on my 14.5". I have used it on my 12.5 and it works without hearing Pro. Is it safe? Not sure but I do not get the ringing in my ears like when I have not can or hearing pro. I have a 10.5 but I have never used it with the Mini 4.

I would stop doing that as you already definitely have hearing damage.

Hearing damage is for posers, doc has BRAIN damage.

How could you possibly make that assertion over the interweb?

I run a Mini4 on my 12.5 M16. When I first got the Mini4 I only ran it on my 10.3. It was too loud for no hearing protection but obviously a lot better than a 10.3 with no can at all! Since I have been using it, the can seems to be getting quieter. The 12.5 is quiet enough to run it without ears. Even quieter if you shoot at shorter distances that you don’t hear the bullet break the sound barrier. I can now shoot the 10.3 without ears but it is still much louder than the 12.5. The Mini4 is a cap gun on my 16 inch middy.

Yea, it would be a WHOLE WHOLE lot better than no can. It should be fine as long as you are happy to train with some ears on.

In your shoes, I might do the same.

I forgot about this thread…

Anyone get to compare a 12.5" with a Mini-4 and a 10.5" with an M4-2000?

The two combinations should be within 1-2 oz and half an inch of each other.

If the performance is close, the 12.5" with the Mini seems like the obvious choice due to the added dwell time, improved external ballistics, and decreased abuse on the suppressor baffles.

Adults usually all have damaged hearing. I know I do. It’s impossible to go through life to adulthood without it, nearly, in this day in age.

And with the ubiquitous iPod and ear buds, it’s only going to get worse.

I agree. But RayJay has no way of knowing what level, if any, of hearing dammage one might have.

I do use a Mini 4 on a 12.5 and it is OK (for me) without ear pro. It’s great on a 16" barrel.

Actually I do not….surprisingly. At least according to my last hearing test that the US Army did……

I just love random web postings based on “magic and sorcery”……. :jester:

That is not funny…I had a TBI once…Ass:lol:

You’re in denial. You’re deaf. You should see about disability.

I’m thinking about running one on my 10" SCAR and 10.5" LMT M16. Is there anything to compare it to? Is it even worth it or just get an m4-2000?

WHAT?..WHAT??? I can’t hear you…:dance3:

Thay do not give disability for hearing any more…:frowning:

What about for denial?
