Anyone own a 2012 Toyota 4Runner?

I’m interested in getting one and want to hear your opinions, Pros and Cons.

Thanks

I drive a Gen 3 4Runner with the 5 speed manual transmission and 3.4l V6, and that thing is superb. Excellent handling, good off-road performance, and insane reliability. I haven’t had a breakdown yet (just routine maintenance, T-belt, etc) and my current vehicle has over 200k on it, with many more miles to go.

Personally, I don’t like the Gen. 4 (2003) 4Runners quite as much as I do the third generation models (1995-2002,) as they have gotten a little more bulky over time, but they are still, in my opinion, the best SUVs on the market.

I looked at the '11s. That’s actually what I went to buy but ended up with an '11 crewmax 5.7l Tundra instead. That decision was based solely on price.

I have a 2011, its my wife’s car but I drive it regular on the weekends chauffeuring her around. It rides more like a car than an SUV IMO. I think it lacks a little in the power department but still sufficient.

It is much bigger inside than previous models which contribute to the lack of power. I have a 2001 tacoma and when side by side you can tell the difference.

I will try to take pics and post later

For the money, a Tacoma is a better buy IMHO. not that I don’t love the 4Runner, great vehicle. But they’re so expensive. Especially if you want to take it off-road. Making a Tacoma fully trail-ready is cheaper and easier, and the bed gives you a good place to put spares, tools, etc. and not get your “clean space”-the part that has to be presentable for the wife or girlfriend, friends/business associates, etc.-all grimy/dirty/smelling of tires and transmission fluid.
Both vehicles will be very good to you for years (decades is not unlikely, if you do your job as the driver) to come.

I owned a 2003 V8 4runner Limited and it was probably the finest vehicle I’ve ever owned. Nice low end torque and decent HP. They’re pricey so it didn’t hurt I got a good deal on it. Also owned a 2005 V6 4runner SR5 which had comparable HP but lacked the low end torque. It was still a nice vehicle.

Whatever you buy DO NOT buy a Pathfinder or Nissan. Worst mistake I’ve ever made. Their warranty and service is shit. If you don’t believe me visit the forums.

I wouldn’t go quite that far, but yes, the Pathfinder is not a 4Runner…
