Anyone know where to get polymer rails?

I am thinking about ordering a MOE handguard but want a rail to put on it. The problem is that I can find any of the Magpul polymer rail sections. I know that others will fit but I would prefer to get the polymer rails. Anyone know who is selling them? (I don’t want to order from Magpul because when I asked on estimated ship date they said a couple of weeks.)

im not aware of any others with the polymer

ERGO grips makes some.

It is not that I want different company’s product, I just don’t want to order direct from Magpul. A Magpul vendor is fine.

I’ll look into the Ergo rails.

Got mine directly from Ergo (Falcon Industries) and they shipped out within a few days.

The ones Magpul sells are the Ergo rails… I ordered direct from Ergo.

Thanks for the replies. I hadn’t seen anything but the aluminum Ergo rails, I guess I didn’t look hard enough:cool:

why do you want the polymer rather than aluminum?

inexpensive and light weight would be my guess, that’s why I got them.

Exactly what RojasTKD said.

You are correct.

they can’t be as durable. is that even an isssue?

I can’t speak on the Ergo products, but I’ve had some experience with polymer rails, and I was NOT very satisfied. The weight savings isn’t enough for me to justify the lack of durability.

They got jacked up, quick.

I think PMags proved that wrong.

The difference is that the plastic teeth can easily be warped/chipped.

I don’t know if Ergo’s rails are different from Beretta’s, but, I don’t believe the plastic rails are made of the same material as Magpul’s products.

I’m not sure of that. I don’t know for sure but Pmags are a different form factor than a rail that has the major stress at the thinnest part.

it may be that the stress is never enough to make a difference but I can’t believe that if you increase stress that an aluminum rail will fail before a polymer one. I’m willing to be convinced, however…

I’m not sure that plastic they are made of, but I can tell you they are not flimsy. This isn’t the same plastic used to make you kid’s toys!

I have used a dermal to cut them to a desired length to fit as I want them. I also drilled a hole in my MEO handguards so I can place the QD sling attachment farther back and with the modded (cut) rail it dosen’t dig into my hand. I think the ability to do this easily is a nice benefit.
We have plastic gun (glock, HK, S&W and others), plastic mags, plastic sights and people always say the same thing. at least at first. I think the polymer rails will do just fine.

My only experience has been with Beretta’s CX4 “polymer” rails.

They weren’t “polymer”, they were plastic. The density seemed extremely low; they felt as though they were manufactured from recycled 7-11 cups.

Humm… note to self, DON"T buy Berreta plastic accessories!

you’re probably right. it probably won’t make any difference for mounting a light or whatever, I was just thinking about the torque that could be imparted from a VFG.

however, now that I think of it, it is being mounted on a polymer MOE handguard, right?

well then, never mind…
