No, this isn’t a “what ammo should I choose” thread -
I’ve had two malfunctions in my Mossberg pump in the last week, now; when chambering a shell (from empty, with a full mag tube), the next-in-line shell’s rim deforms enough when hitting the shell-stop part (no idea what it is called) that it shoots past it, and then launches that first shell straight out of the ejection port. Moving the forearm back forward then chambers that second round, while the first rolls around on the ground.
Better than not having anything in the chamber at all, but this is at work and therefore not cool.
The thing is, I haven’t had this issue at all with the cheap Winchester Super-X 00 that I was using before; the Winchester brass seems to be a lot thicker or harder or both.
I found it odd that shells marketed as HD/LE would have such a problem. After a bit of looking around, my TAP 00 has no markings on the plastic at all, unlike images I find of it online. The only markings are alternating “12” and star-symbol headstamps. Does that sound right to any of you who use this ammo?
If this is just how the shells are, I guess I’ll toss them in my range bag and get something else.
