Anyone hear of Texas State Armory?

I hope this is the right spot for this but has anyone here ever heard of Texas State Armory? I had some guy tell me they make quality spec uppers but the only thing of theirs I could find was some RRA stuff on gunbroker, I couldn’t even find a website for them. I think this guy was trying to lowball me but I’m curious if they do make anything good. Thanks for any info.

I live in Texas and havent heard of them.

i live in dallas and have heard of them
actually talked to them when i was looking for my AR. They are located in Katy Texas and are in the process of putting up their own site to showcase their inventory.
I had a few e-mails back and forth from i guess a guy that works there and from what I got out of them, they use spikes tactical and RRA lowers, and according to the guy i talked to, they use “custom built uppers”. Auctions on GB are for gun only btw, no mags no case, etc.
apparently they are trying to get their own lowers patended from what i took from the e-mails as well.

hope some of that jiberush helps

hopefully their lower isn’t stamped “TSA”

Thanks for the info, that answered my question.

heck I work near katy and Ive never heard of them :stuck_out_tongue:

looking at their facebook page they arent too impressive…

I live in Katy and have never heard of them. I wonder if they’re hiring?

Looks like they could use some help.

I emailed them yesterday for their uppers specs and this is what they sent me, it’s the same as what the guy I was dealing with sent me. If they actualy make stuff like they say they do I would think they would be more well know.

They make good stuff. I was very impressed with the quality of their uppers. I like it better than my RRA upper.

If they actualy make stuff like they say they do I would think they would be more well know.
Its a small company that does not mass produce stuff so most people have never heard of them. Plus they are a fairly new company.

Hmmm, I’m from West Houston, I may need to check them out…

Reading post #8, I do not see chrome lined chamber or bore.

I have never had any of their stuff in my hands, so a general impression, It seems to me that the stuff is priced kind of high.(My impression).

This is a general comment about everyone except the few we all recognize as safe bets, it is possible to create a low priced AR with things that (I at least) look for, BCG - full auto, chrome lined chamber and bore, forged receivers, mil-spec buffer and tube. These few items do not ensure that the finished product will be equal to a Colt, DD or BCM carbine.

They sometimes have CL barrel uppers. My buddy got one with it. I paid a bit less than the MSRP listed above.
Seems like a fair price for a quality upper.

If this is the place on South Mason, it’s run by a couple of morons trying to pawn overpriced junk, and their shop is a shithole. Maybe I have the wrong place, though, can’t recall the name of the shop that I stepped into a couple months ago, and quickly left.

are you thinking of this place? http://www.tacticalfirearms.us/

I was in there a few weekends ago just to see if they had the fsp adjuster tool (they didnt ) and promptly left after the guy behind the counter picked up & swung a rifle, deadly end first, across half of the patrons in there – didnt even bother to check if unloaded, safety on, etc etc before he picked it up.

Yep, that’s the one. Thanks for clarifying!

I’d seen 'em on Gunbroker. Their brand logo on a lower for a plinker might have ‘cool’ factor, if you’re FROM Texas, but now live out of state. Seeing as how they’re not quite to “BCM spec” yet, I can wait a while longer…

I went there to and got the same impression just a bunch of tacticool morons

same here

They sound just like the retards here locally at Reds Trading Post.

It’s hard to find a shop that isn’t like that.
I was in the shop of a semi-famous former radio DJ here in Houston and heard him tell a customer, “If you get a .45 ACP, you don’t even have to actually hit someone to hurt them.”

I couldn’t keep my mouth shut, and had to ask what he meant. (without being confrontational)
He responded, “If it hits an object near by, there can be shrapnel from the large bullet that will still hurt the target.”:eek:

I like this shop somewhat. It’s overpriced, but fun to window-shop. I also like this guy as an owner. He’s very pro-gun and his semi-celibrity status is good for the reputation of gun owners, but when I heard this ignorance, I was stunned.
