Just came across this, maybe its been on here before. I thought it would be neat to see someone attempt to manufacture a 2 Bore (gauge) on the AR platform. The 2 Bore was developed primarily as a big game round for hunting in Africa. The bullet itself is 3500 grain (thats over 63 55gr .223s bullets put together) and has a muzzle velocity of over 17,000lbs. Nice.
And yes, that is a .45 standing next to it for comparison.

Why? To me that just seems silly, for many reasons.
The first time I read about anything close to this was Henry Bowman in Unintended Consequences and if memory serves me correctly it was a 4 bore he was after. The only thing you’d be after with this thing is a broken shoulder.
More money than sense, but that’s what makes America so great!! If you want it, go and get it made. I’ll pass though. If I need something like that, I will get a 18" or 20" 50bmg carbine upper to bolt to an AR lower.
Because thats the American dream, having the biggest stick. Can you imagine bringing this thing to the range?
Ammo could get pricey though, the cheapest I can find is $449.00 for a box of 10.

PS- “…muzzle velocity of 17,000lbs”? I think you got a typo there!
If you want a large bore on an AR add a M203. 
They make projectiles other then lead:
I meant 17,000 ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle, velocity is only 1500ft/s

I don’t see it…here’s a 4 bore on a late 1800’s double with damascus bbls. Gun is 20+lbs and still rolls you back.
I know they make other types of projectiles. I will admit to yanking on your chain a little in the name of fun, but the reason it’s a 2 bore (or gauge) is because it’s the diameter of a ball of lead weighing one half pound. A 12 bore (or gauge) is the diameter of a ball of pure lead weighing one twelfth pound. I’m sure you know that there are 7000 grains in a pound and that a 3500 grain projectile is one half pound. At 17,000 ft/lbs of muzzle energy, that’s one helluva freight train!

20mm Vulcan. It’s “only” a 1,600 grain round, but at 3,300 ft/sec velocity that works out to about 38,687 foot pounds of muzzle energy :eek:
Damn. And it’s only $12k for the bolt action.
