Anybody have a Ti-Rant?

Hey,

I was thinking about getting a Ti-Rant for my .45 (HK45c). Has anyone here got one? Ups and downs? How will it run on my Hk45c with factory SD barrel? Will Std Heinie Sights clear the can? Or do I need to order a new set?

I was thinking about getting a new slide and making an SD upper. Hmm.

I’m sure you’ll need the #3960 Heinie’s for suppressor height. That’s what I run on mine.

I ordered one for my HK45. I’ll post when I BATFE sends me Valentines card:D

Lol. Trying to make a SEAL gun Greg?

I own a 9x19mm version, and is great. Glock 17 host.

I was set on selling it, but in retrospect decided that it’s too hard to find a suppressor that performs that well, with the kind of weight it does. It sounds just as quiet if not quieter than the Osprey to me. Federal 147 gr. loads were used.

Going to compare it to a Gemtech.

Paid for my TiRant in 45ACP a while ago. Just waiting for my Form4 to come back stamped. Don’t know how they work on HK’s but mine is going on this FNP45-Tactical.

MadDog

Maddog, that gun is wicked. I am going to get threaded barrel for my FN45, haven’t seen any around though. Wont have the tall sights or RDS, but should still work quite nice.

MadDog- the FNPtac makes an awesome host- you’re gonna like it:

Oddly enough my SOT gets my TiRant .45 today. So ask me how I like it in 2-3 months. Oddly enough as for sights, that’s tough. I don’t want to raise the sight height on my M&P .45 just to compensate for a device I’ll only have on the gun either when shooting with friends or using for home defense.

At those ranges I’m instinctively pointing my gun, so 25yds (not a big apartment) and in I’m just driving the gun on to the center mass, so sights aren’t a huge deal.

But I see that it’s a big deal for some people, and I wish I had a better solution.

if a particular gun didn’t come with taller sights, I’d not put them on. i have never had a problem sighting “through” the can with any setup.

Winner winner, chicken dinner! That’s it right there.

I couldn’t possibly disagree more with not putting taller sights on. I “can” sight through the can on guns but for better accuracy and sight picture. There’s no comparison between the factory sights I had on the HK45 and the taller Heinie’s that are on there now. Distance shooting is also greatly enhanced with the sight over system as opposed to the sight through.

Besides HK has produced both the USP45CT and the HK45CT with taller sights as opposed to their standard non “T” model offerings, so why wouldn’t a user owned pistol benefit from the same modifications?

If all you do is “point shoot” as opposed to sighted fire like titleist then I suppose it’s not a big deal. And in any event you had to learn the impact zero with whatever sights came on the gun in the first place. To me it’s no different than that.

Very much personal preference, I see your point of view too. I’ve shot many many many different suppressed guns in various settings with various sight configs, and i have not overall noticed a big difference either way. I also do not shoot pistols at some great distance either.

I shoot both eyes open and standard sights don’t bother me for normal shooting with a can.

Shooting for groups and/or longer range I could see it being an issue.

I’ll tell you. On some other pistols I’ve ran I’ve gotten different results.

On my P226R the standard sights don’t seem to hit to a point of aim I prefer. However on a Glock 17 standard height Heinie’s do a great job of hitting point on through a SWR Trident and Evo 9. That’s at 15 yds or so.

Drifting back “on topic” (Sorry OP) I really like the suppressor height options that are available for the HK series of pistols. Original height are useable but I get better personal results with the #3960’s

Yes, back on topic- OP:

It runs awesome, sounds great:

I am going to try and run to Bullseye’s in the morning and put in an order. It is only money!

Holy crap that thing is long… A 9 inch .45ACP suppressor!

Shot my friend’s Ti-Rant .45 a while back and it straight up KICKED ASS!! I was simply blown away by its performance. The thing seriously rocks, man.

Here’s some video of us shooting it, with and without Night Vision, and an IR Laser, too:D

I don’t even own a .45 as of now, but I’m thinking about buying one of these cans now just to be prepared, lol!:stuck_out_tongue:

I am glad you gents shot the berm with it a few times as some might think wtf were they doing, but I understood and found that was the only time I truly could hear just how suppressed the .45 was…outstanding:cool:

I think that must be why it works so well. I have never heard another .45 suppressor that was worth a crap. I have a friend with a Gemtech who loves to brag how quiet it is. He insists on people listening without hearing protection and you can just watch them wince in pain as they humor him.
