You will have to forgive the newbie question. I am new to all this AR stuff. Does anyone know if there is any place on this planet to get a full 16" Colt 6920 or LMT? I am wanting to pick one up before the probable ban here in the US.

It might help if you tell these guys what part of the country your in. Like south western PA (Me)…so that someone near you can tell you what they have seen or know. Good luck!
As you’ve no doubt discovered by now, you’re asking the question about three months too late, as everything-AR has been in short supply since the middle of October.
The problem you’re facing now is two-fold, in that (a) you’re unlikely to find a Colt or LMT anytime soon, and (b) anything you do find is likely to command a premium price. In that sense, it’s pretty much a bad news story all-around, though there is still cause for hope if you’re patient.
As Larry has pointed out, it might prove helpful if you identified which part of the country you were looking in; barring that, watching Gunsamerica and/or Gunbroker may be your best bet if you’re in a hurry-- just be prepared to pay, since most of the listings you’re going to see right now are reflective of opportunists looking to turn a huge profit.
Personally, I would just be looking for a reputable vendor with a reasonable waiting list, and settling in for a wait. Given the larger circumstances, I might also be forced to consider to consider a “lesser” rifle (i.e. Stag or Bushmaster) with an eye toward addressing possible quality or QC issues after-the fact.

Lots of 6920s on GunBroker. The problem is they all want $1800 to $2K but aren’t getting bids now. You’ll see prices drop real soon. The actual going price for one on there appears to be $1600.
There has continued to be a consistent quantity (3-6 per store) of some combination of CMMG, Charles Daly Defense, Bushmaster, DPMS, Stag, Del Ton, S&W or Remington in the several gun shops I pass through around north Georgia.
The few Colts I’ve seen have all been 20" HBAR rifles.
These stores have maintained prices pretty much flat to last Summer so far.
