I was thinking about trying the Tactical Taylor4" duty belt pad but I was looking for some opinions on those who use belt pads. It will be on a Safariland duty belt with your standard load out.
I was looking at the First Line Belt thread but I don’t think I could get away with a MOLLE belt system.
Good, bad, too bulky, just right, do you use keepers, etc etc?
Thanks
I just wear the duty belt over the velcro trouser belt and a few belt keepers to make sure nothing shifts, never get any discomfort.
A few of the cops in my dept. use belt pads. Pretty sure that they’re not the TacTailor ones, probably an older safariland or uncle mikes variety. Seems like they’re happy with theirs.
Obviously, you’ll have to size a belt a little bigger than normal.
I’ve never had a problem with my duty belt digging in my waistline. I’ve been using a uniform belt with my sam browne and 4 keepers and it works for me.
It would be nice to wear one, but my set-up wouldn’t allow that to fit. Looks comfy though.
Never felt the need in getting one for my leather or nylon duty belts.
When I was on patrol we were allowed to wear nylon duty gear and I wore an Eagle belt pad with my duty belt. I really liked it and it was always comfortable.
When I first started using it I was worried that it would be too bulky, but it wasn’t an issue.

I ended up buying the Tactical Tailor (I just noticed I spelled it wrong in my first post) pad and have been wearing if for the past week. Its very comfortable but I had to take it in to get snaps placed on the “keepers”. The Velcro wasn’t enough to keep them from pulling up when I would get in and out of my car. I had to constantly push the two back left “keepers” down.
I’ll post back some pics when I get it back from the shop. Other than that it works great, except my team mates think its looks “funny”. Although non of them knew what a war belt was, so they don’t count anyway. ![]()
Don’t use or need one. If my back hurts, I toss on the suspenders.
