Yeah, I know I mentioned RRA on here, but from word from mouth, RRA puts sweat in their National Match builds.
Im on the fence to build my own and go with a White Oak barrel, but the package that RRA has for their NM A2 has what I need, plus bolt carrier group, sights, and charging handle.
Anyone have experience with their NM uppers?
I have owned several RRA NM uppers and had good luck with them. When I shot a lot of High Power matches, I replaced the barrels somewhere around the 5,000 round mark. I sold the used barrels to people who knew they had 5,000 rounds through them, but also knew with their shooting ability they would not notice the difference. When an upper reached the point where I needed to replace the barrel, bolt, bolt carrier cam pin and gas tube, I just bought a new upper.
John Holliger at White Oak Precision makes top shelf gear, but it is a little pricier for those of us on a budget. I would not hesitate to recommend White Oak Precision.
If you attend a club High Power match in my area and see fifteen AR-15’s on the firing line, over half of them will be RRA NM.
Now that I just shoot a local match now and again, I went back to shooting M1 Garands and M1 Carbines.
Yes. I have used Rock River NM, Compass Lake, and White Oak service rifles/uppers.
They all shoot. Accuracy is in the barrel and I’d give the edge to Compass Lake and White Oak because of their barrel selection, pinned rear sights, etc. and great service. There are others coming along now that are great such as Keystone Accuracy.
Its reasonable to get a complete RR NM for your first, and then have CL, WO, or Keystone rebarrel and pin your sights when needed and your skills grow.
My Rock River NM upper/lower receiver fit is perfect with no wiggle, but it was bought as a set.
One thing to consider is the differences in chamber for your loads. Use Wylde chambers or Compass Lake match chambers, etc. Don’t mix.

My first choice would be a white oak, but I would like to have done correctly the first time. I’ve only built one AR from the ground up. Since this will he a match weapon, I want it done right once in case I can’t for some reason get or afford a NM upper, and to get into it as an entry level.
I’ve shot M1s and Springfields, but saw the disadvantage over the AR at a real High Power match.
At this moment this match season will be dsmal for me due to work. I just want to get further up the latter than were I am, and this is the next step.
So you want to do it right from the start but yet you ask about RR NM…
WTF? I have no idea what you are trying to say.
The RRA. It is a great starting point. The Navy bought a lot of them for the team. When the barrel was shot out they replaced them. The sights, trigger and float tube are great. I eventually replaced the rear sight with a CLE. I like the CLE rear sight better than the RRA better but there is no problem with the sights.
