Any downfalls of the Eotech XPS2?

I see some people here that do not care for eotechs. I am looking for a optic and am choosing between the XPS2 or a Aimpoint ML3. Any suggestions?

Yes please take the time to read through the optics thread as this has been discussed at length and several times over.

Good advice because there is ALOT of great info to read through, bottom line both are great optics. The earlier Eotech’s had some issues (battery) from what I’ve read, I have a XPS2 and absolutely love it and have had zero problems. Although there might have been issues on earlier models I haven’t read anything bad about the XPS line.

I have both. I ran both on my KRISS Super V and both got the job done. Quality of the Aimpoint seems just a little better but I like both. I run the Aimpoint on my Colt and the EOTech on my KRISS usually. There are pros and cons for both.
I put both pics so you can see both on the same weapon.

Aimpoint

EOTech XPS-2

It’s basically personal choice. Reticle and field of view: Eotech. Battery life: Aimpoint. The XPS line is like a gen 2 Eotech and corrects the battery connection issue of previous models.

Personal choice. I would try both out and see which one I like more…

I have had or do have all of them. I have bought a couple of the XPS sights and they are great. Smaller, lighter and no issues at all. In my opinion it comes down to what you want to see when your shooting. Some like the aimpoint dot and others like the larger EOTech 65 MOA with a 1 MOA dot. I am one of those who prefers the EOTech. I find the EOTech with the 65 MOA dot to be faster and the 1 MOA center dot more accurate at longer range. I also like the large circle for up close center mass hits. The bottom of the 65 MOA circle is POI at 7 yards which is fast and precise for making close head shots on hostage type targets. When you just have a single dot you have to guess at where exactly POI is at close range, under stress and with speed the EOTech is better. Build quality today is equal, to many people get hung up on early versions of the EOTech that did have some issues, history shows that Aimpoint did at one point when they first came out. All the brands have evolved and build a good optic. Choose what you want to see when shooting and buy it.

I just compared both of these in another post. One thing I dont like about the eotech is that when you turn it on it always goes to max illum, it wont remember the last setting. With an aimpoint you can just turn it to where you want it and always leave it there. The buttons on the eotech are harder to use than the knob on the aimpoint.

Im on the personal preference bandwagon as well. Both have their ups and downs. Aimpoint has an exceptional battery life that is measured in years and not hours, but has a 4 MOA reticle. The Eotech has a battery life of 500-600 hours but offers a more precise 1 MOA reticle as well as a 65 MOA reticle that is ideal for a cqb environment as well as putting a lead on moving targets.

Neither of mine turn on at max illumination, they both come on mid-range. (511 and XPS2.)

No so…they turn on to the middle setting as HeavyDuty stated.

I put another 300 rnds. through my XPS today with zero probs. I cant shoot 0.5"/50 yd, or 2"/100yd groups with any other RDS as fast as I can with the EOTech. (LWRC M6A3 - 16")

The XPS has a very solid aluminum body, and the sturdy protective steel hood is box-jointed into the sight body for extra strength. I cant imagine any Aimpoint surviving a blow that would crush the EOTech XPS…

My mistake. It does come on at the middle setting. I would still like it if it would remember the last setting it was on.

+1 on personal preference. I like Aimpoints ( have a T1), but I prefer using a Eotech (have a XPS 2-2).
