same?
Is this a trick question?

The DD barrel is manufactured by DD.
The BCM is manufactured by whomever BCM has to manufacture their barrel. (Not DD.)
im speaking to the quality…
In my experience, yes.
My BCM standard barrel is much more accurate than the DD I had.
My CHF BCM even more so.
It’s hard for me to say I got a lemon.
I was less then impressed by 2 other DD barrels I’ve shot extensively.
(Both owned by my brother.)
This is the first Ive ever heard of a BCM barrel being “much more” accurate than a DD barrel.
I couldn’t get the DD upper to group tighter than 4" with 55gr 5.56.
DD couldn’t get it tighter than 2.4" with 77gr match on a perfect day.
The BCM uppers just shoot better for me.
This is MY experience with the 2 brands.
YMMV.
i sold my BCM, and got a DD from midway for 250$
LOL!
I did almost the opposite!
I sold my DD and bought a BCM BFH LW from Grant.
Enjoy your new barrel!
full upper or just the barrel?
The DD was a 14.5" carbine mounted on a BCM upper.
The BCM BFH is a complete upper.
From reading the forum over the past couple years, the gist of what I’ve gathered is that BCM BFH barrels seem more accurate than the DD CHF ones. I won’t be going back to site my sources, so this is just my two cents worth.
I recall a while back that Surf, who is an IP here, mentioned that he usually notices that his DDs are about 2 MOA guns. I could be wrong, so if you want to confirm this, PM him. I believe Robb Jensen also believes that BCM BFH barrels have an edge in accuracy over DD CHF barrels. Both do more shooting than I do so it would be worth asking their opinions on this.
My own personal DD, an earlier 4150 non-CHF barrel is shoots 1.5"-2.0" 5 shot groups at 100 yards with .223 75 grain TAP (T1). It doesn’t do that well with any other ammo I’ve tested.
I love my DD, but I probably wouldn’t buy another.
Im pretty shocked. This is the first Ive heard of this.
You know you hear the same repetition in all the threads when someone makes ‘another thread’ asking “what rifle should I get?”…kind like this thread, and everyone says, “Colt, BCM, DD”.
I was just expecting to hear the same answer again.
Didnt know that other members, and ecspecially IP’s believe BCM has the advantage, accuracy wise, over DD.
Maybe its not that big of difference to be concerned with? Or maybe things have changed since, if it was indeed a while back that this was mentioned, and it isnt the case anymore?
Most members are referring to all of the above as a reliable combat weapon (Colt, DD, BCM, LMT, Noveske, KAC etc…). For most of our purposes, it wouldn’t make a difference if the gun were 1 MOA or 2 MOA. First and foremost, you have to be shooting consistent quality ammo to squeeze good repeatable accuracy out of a gun. Next, it doesn’t matter if the gun is a 1 MOA gun if the shooter is a 5 MOA shooter. Most mil-grade ammo isn’t even spec’d out to be 1 MOA.
I don’t plan on owning that many ARs in my lifetime, so I plan on the next gun having either a BCM BFH or Noveske barrel. I want a chrome-lined barrel that is as accurate as possible. My current uppers have a 4140 barrel (S&W MP15) and a 4150 non-CHF (DD).
Surf’s comments on the DD barrel’s 2 MOA accuracy. He likes the DD barrels so this isn’t a disparaging comment: http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=45767&highlight=non-chf
In a recent thread, C4I Grant said that Colt makes some of the most accurate combat grade chrome lined barrels with the ones in the 6940s being some of the most accurate. http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=91536&highlight=6940+Colt
Noveske’s CHF chrome lined barrels are generally regarded as having higher quality and higher accuracy than most. Another great thread: Is Noveske Worth It? https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=81639
Robb Jensen’s opinions on the BCM BFH barrels: http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=55542&highlight=surgically
Here is a thread on the DDM4 that I started way back and I thought it had some useful information. http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=40548
EDIT: Finally found the thread I was looking for: http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=83513&highlight=chrome+lined+bcm
It looks like you were in this thread snackgunner (post #7 and #12) and Robb Jensen was in post #11.
LAV doesn’t seem to have a problem with DD barrel accuracy!;), either one is more than adequate for defense accuracy and neither is a match grade barrel. The difference in accuracy is probably negligible. I have a DD chf M4 profile right now that has been grouping nicely out to 100, 200 yds(haven’t tried anything farther) it IS a quality barrel in my opinion. DD produces a fine barrel as does BCM.
I like DD but personally prefer BCM. That’s based on either owning, building, or working on maybe a dozen BCM’s and half a dozen DD’s.
FWIW the Centurion is my favorite chrome lined barrel. I currently have 2 and the first one is more accurate than my BCM’s and BCM’s that I currently own. The other one just arrived and got installed so no experience with it yet. I can’t compare these to Noveske as both of my Noveske tubes are S.S.
the DD is 240, out od stock till mid nov
the BCM is 300 not sure when it will be in
the Centurion is 300 and in stock…
any other suggestions?
i need a 16" mid light
No question. Go Centurion.![]()
im not in a hurry. just want the best for the cash… its 60$ more… personally, ive never heard of Centurion
the tapper bore interests me…
They make really good barrels. Here’s an old thread on their HF barrels.

Just some clarification, I do indeed like DD barrels. I find them to be very accurate. I will also add that when we are talking MOA of anything, one persons definition of MOA can vary greatly from someone else. I try to determine MOA by a very large sample size of 5-10 round groups over numerous groups. Sure I can shoot wonder groups, but in the long run larger sample sizes come up with more accurate assessments of MOA.
I will also add that when I am talking about a battle type rifle, I am talking about non magnified, iron or red dot optics unless if I specifically state otherwise. I am also talking about good quality factory ammo, not necessarily match type or specific handloads. So given the ammo and irons or red dot, IMO getting 2 MOA out of any rifle in this platform places that barrel or rifle in the top category for accuracy. Again if I were to use standards often quoted by others on the internet, I could claim a better MOA, but IMO that is not realistically accurate, statistically and practically speaking.
The only thing that I note from DD barrels at least in the not too distant past, is that the gas port sizing is undersized for my liking. Some run, but if one is finicky it is almost always cured by opening the port to a standard size which I have had to do numerous times.
