Remington is marketing the rifle to Mil/LE only from what I understand… so you’ll be stuck with the colors that Bushmaster is offering. Here’s a link to a forum that’s dedicated to ACR’s: http://www.acrforum.com/index.php
I’d like an OD Green one.
a press release was posted saying they would start selling the civilian ACR’s starting in 2010.
I may be missing something, but I believe Remington is marketing the ACR towards the Military and Bushmaster is marketing it to civilians. You are right, however that it will be released in 2010.

“Made in the USA for government sales by the oldest name in firearms and ammunition – Remington delivers again.”- http://www.remingtonmilitary.com/acr.htm
How are the BM bashers ever going to reconcile that one?
I found this…

Hmm… the plot thickens
Either way it will be a sweet rifle if it turns out to be what it’s cracked up to be.
Ya, that’s the release I saw
I sent a email to Remington on it
I’ll post when they do
Don’t realy care what 1 I get as long as it’s FDE
I plan to make it my 1st sbr
Question though. Any 1 know how to buy it from the LE decision?
Has any1 ever bought rems funky sniper rifle on the .mil page?
“Bashers” is a nebulous term, and “bashing” is mostly in the eye of the beholder.
The professional, credible, and intellectually honest folks will do what they’ve always done: give them credit where credit is due, and them to task where they fall short.
It will be interesting to see if the division of production will result in a division of production standards. Time will tell.
it hasn’t been released yet and there’s already a forum?
Exactly.
I truely do wish them the best of luck and hope they can get it right, but given Bushmaster’s track record, I don’t have the warm fuzzies.
A lot of us hoped that when Cerebus bought them and Remington, their QC would be brought up. They can make a mil spec carbine, but they still choose not too.
It’s like Robinson Crusoe having a dating blog.
What can possibly be happening outside of the quantum noise of the vacuum as rumors are created and squashed, adding nothing to the debate.
Bushmaster’s initial color offering will be black. FDE will follow 30-60 days after the black is released. I think that within 2-3 weeks, you will start to see photos posted on the internet by Magpul and other Industry Professionals, who get an early release gun for T. & E. around the end of this month. Guess we will have to see? Other calibers and configurations to follow as well. There will be a whole section on the ACR at both the BM and Remington booths at SHOT.
Expect a BM initial street price of $2,500-2,600. There will be an Assault Weapon ban compliant model, as well. It will have pop up iron sights standard, not Troy’s and either a straight barrel, or an Izzy Brake.
Thanks for the link. But, it did not work for me.

Remington ACR for sale soon, says Remington MPD
Last weekend in Paris at the Milipol '09 defense expo Remington MDP (Military Products Division) were saying that the Remington ACR will go on sale in “the next month or so”.
ACR on display at Milipol '09. Serial number: ACR00067.
The Bushmaster website still says it will go on sale in the first half of 2010.
It has been promised so many times before that I will only believe that it is on sale when it is on sale and not a moment before!
Many thanks to Aurélien for the tip.

Aurélien on 25 Nov 2009 at 8:01 pm link commentI’m the one who gave the picture to Steve, and the guys at Remington MPD said it’s the final production model.
One thing is sure, it’s way lighter than the HK416 and SCAR.

It’s sort of wild that the company responsible for the rifle at top is going to be producing the rifle at bottom… Two completely different faces of Bushmaster represented there on the wall, or so we are to believe.
The rifle on the bottom though wasn’t designed from scratch by the same company.
By not buying one…
As was said they could build a top tier gun but choose not to. The ACR is a more complex design…I have no reason to believe they will get that to “standard” either. At least not for a couple of years to establish as good of a track record as the competition (for me that is BCM, Colt, LMT, KAC, etc). It will also depend on their CS for any issues, availability of parts, initial cost, and all the usual that make up my decision to purchase a gun.
I am going to buy the ACR or SCAR, not sure which one.
Either way I hope both are hot sellers and hope another company launches a new generation rifle to compete with the ACR and SCAR.
Competition will be good for us.
