anti walk pins for colt

I’ve got a Colt lower here that the owner is having trouble with the trigger pin walking out ( goes towards the right every time). I figured a $3 set of anti walk pins would cure this problem. Problem is, they were too small by about ten or fifteen maybe even twenty thousanths.
So, I guess Colt made some lowers with bigger trigger and hammer pins??, or has this lower been dorked up by some one? If made this way, does anyone make the size I need in an anti walk pin?Is there another fix for the walking pin?
TIA

Yes, you need to get the large pin anti walk pins. KNS makes some.

Thank you, sir!

To the Original poster, please dont take this the wrong way, but long before I started thinking about Anti-Rotation pins, I would be looking for the real reason the pin was walking out.

Anti-walk pins are a solution to a problem you shouldn’t have. There are notches in the trigger pin where the trigger spring legs sit in, have you made sure they are lined up properly?

Exactly! I have seen one leg of the hammer pin go bad, and if its the leg thats sitting in the trigger pin groove it would no longer keep the pin in place.

Aren’t KNS pins systems ALSO made to be “anti rotating” or something guys???

I thought they also kept your pins from rotating, and excessively wearing the receiver hole(s)…???
Thanks…

Nice thing about the Gen1 KNS pins is they offer a way to internally apply lube to the fire control parts right where they need it most. The Gen2 pins are a bit different.

WHAT?
No more lubing point on the GenII pins???

I had no idea, and I JUST ordered a set, NOT knowing this.

Can you please explain what you mean by the new pins being “a bit different”???

Do they just NOT have the lube point at all anymore? WHY the hell would KNS do this??? Was the lube point just considered not to be needed any longer?
Damn, I was really looking forward to receiving my new pins, and having a lube point on them…

Anyone got comparison pics of installed, and uninstalled pin sets??? Thanks…

Not to worry razor, the 2nd Gen retains the ability to lube the trigger. The hammer pin screws were replaced with a tenon and the overall look is wider and smoother. They’ll work just fine - they’re just differant.

It’s one side of the hammer spring leg that holds in the trigger pin (not the trigger spring holding the trigger pin in). If the hammer spring has gone soft or you’re using a ‘match’ grade (weakened) hammer spring it can cause the trigger pin to walk. The hammer pin sometimes walks because the J-spring in the hammer breaks or goes soft allowing the pin to slide out.

I agree regular anti-walk pins (the type that use the E-clips are useless/not required).

The KNS pins will not only prevent the pins from walking but they also protect the hammer & trigger pin holes in a lower from elongating or enlarging. This is especially useful when using blowback calibers in ARs like 9mm and 45ACP which will mess up the pin holes and sometimes break the hammer pin. (if you haven’t noticed this is why Colt uses a stainless steel hammer pin in 9mm models). Another good side effect is that KNS pins also give very consistent trigger pull. If you don’t desire the effects of KNS pins then you shouldn’t use them.
