Really. I LOVE this country.
We’re maybe a big dysfunctional family, with all it’s juvenile bickering and whining left and right but when the doodoo truly hits the fan we’re mostly of one mind: Commit heinous acts of terrorism and not much sympathy can be expected. Usually dealt with swiftly and with finality.
Apparently not so in other ‘civilized more enlightened’ places.
This latest development has me scratching my head and wondering what their world is coming to, remembering this incident very well.
Full background story:
Dutch school hostage crisis and
Dutch train hostage crisis
These terrorists held a school with children hostage. At the same time they hijacked a commuter train and brutally murdered 3 innocent people, executed them in full view of the world, right off the bat to show they were serious.
The relatives of these criminals are now suing the Dutch government for ‘excessive violence’, and actually are getting a (shockingly) fair amount of play, even sympathy.
37 years later!!!
Claiming the SF teams tasked with storming the train used ‘excessive force’ - verbatim, I shit you not!! (Apparently basic tactics don’t apply in the Netherlands?)
I am perplexed and at an utter loss of words baffled at the ability of (certain) people to just completely reconstruct reality, in effect turning murderous sociopath terrorist into ‘martyrs’.
Something tells me they’re looking for a pay-off.
What REALLY bothers me above all is the (good) guys that did the dirty work are being treated as if they did anything wrong, possibly being called to ‘testify’. This is a terrifying development, setting a precedent that will undoubtedly affect how future situations will be dealt with.
Most likely to the advantage of the criminal/terrorist.
This I believe will never pass here.
Which is one more reason why I love 'Merica.
