Another New Rifle..This time another KISS

Just got done putting this together and test firing it. It has an LMT Lower with SOPMOD Stock and 2 stage trigger, a BCM 16" Mid Length Upper, LaRue BUIS, Sure Fire M79 Mount with a SF G2 with Z32 shock bezel and whatever the model of the shrouded constant on, momentary on/ off switch is.

The LMT lower is as always top self and the 2 stage trigger breaks like a glass rod in the 2nd stage. The SOPMOD stock is also very rugged and solid. The fit between the LMT lower and BCM upper is unshakable.

The BCM upper is the first i have bought and I now know what all the “Rave” is about. Very clean, precise and truly a finely finished piece of machined metal.

I used Cav Arms Mid Length plastic handguards and am very impressed with their rigidity! I have the SF light and also a DD QD mount at the receiver on these hand guards, and they are rock solid for something that is not "Metal. Sure there’s a little movement with most plastic handguards but much less than any others I’ve tried.

Initial test firing using my 55 Gn. FMJBT w/c reloads produced 2 MOA with the large aperture of the LaRue BUIS.

Regarding the LaRue BUIS…This is the BOM if you don’t want a flip up. Nothing on this sight wiggles, wobbles or moves until you adjust the windage screw which has very distinctive “Clicks”.

The Sure Fire M79 mount is actually a QD mount ON the flashlight so you can switch lights in and out of the same mount. Mine is a 1" for a G2 series. It sits tightly on the MI short rail I installed at the front…especially after tightening with pliers around a piece of leather to avoid marring the screws and using Lock Tite Blue to set it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

hell yes… that is indeed a nice rifle. Excellent section in components.

Nice looking rifle there! Was the upper a true 16 middy or a 14.5 with a permanently attached FH?

Outstanding job. Good choice of parts.

If simplicity is your goal, why not use a Larue rail to avoid having to jerry rig sling mounts and flashlights?

Just FYI, your LaRue BUIS can go rearward one more notch.

S/F,
Jeff

16" Middy. I Love Them!!!

Right now it’s money (as for so many). The plan is to do some type of rail system but you’d be surprised at how stout the mounts to the hand guards are. I wanted to get another “Functional” rifle put together before January and this was the best that I could do right now. The handguards and 2 MI mounts were only $55, versus $250+ for a rial.

I put the money where it counts…in the BCM upper with LaRue sights, and the LMT lower with the SOPMOD stock and 2 stage trigger.

Thaks Jeff! Man you’re really paying attention!

Nice set up with the middy. Just need a good aimpoint on that sucker.

Good reply! You definitely chose good parts, by the way.

Classy! Just enough & not too much. I’m inspired to do a similar build!
