I know some brand and model pistols generally perform better with some ammo and not so well with others. Is there anything that really shines ammo wise, with the HK45c? Anything I should avoid? I had planned on running Wincester Ranger-T 230 gr JHP (RA45T) unless some one has a better idea.
They should shoot anything well made and consistent very well. The thing with guns that shoot only certain ammo well is the bore is too large or “loose” - only ammo that runs slightly large has a proper seal. For the nitty gritty all 45 barrels from real manufacturers are already set up for proper twist rate with 230gr so that or anything smaller is ok.
We ran ours hard during the initial transition, using everything from Federal AE to OLD “TZZ” headstamp Israeli military stuff, with a hodge-podge of JHP thrown into the mix. Ours ran and ran without a hitch, hiccup, or bobble, and showed great accuracy with just about everything…

I shoot 230gr FMJs for practice (whatever I have or can find), and RA45T for carry.
No issues, even when rode hard…

The only ammo i know to be an issue is 230 hap’s from hornady. I personally havent used them before or had the problem, but others have. Something to do with the ogive of the bullet i think.
I feed mine a steady diet of 230gr fmj’s and some 185gr xtp loads i have been working up.
Mine has around 5k rounds through it, mix of FMJ and JHP both factory and personal reloads.
The only issue I’ve ever had with this gun was with a box of Remington UMC 230gr FMJ I bought. I had two fail to ejects from that box, probably not hot ebough. It was the first and last box of UMC I ever bought.
